Default Anyone Owned a Mercedes 300TE

I have a co-worker looking to unload a '93 300TE for cheap and the car is solid and quite interesting to me. My wife and kids hate the look and color (gold) of the wagon and reminded me I already have way too many cars. I figure I can just buy it and use it as a mini-pickup and to lug around things I would not want to put in my other cars. Certainly no one would be tempted to break in or to steal from a gold Mercedes wagon.

Anyone on the forum have owned such a wagon and have any input on this?

Bullet proof cars with the exception of the 4-matic tranny.

I have owned several E variants and have been pleased with every one of them.

Had a '92 (if I remember correctly) 300 4-matic wagon. It was as close to a minivan as I'd get when the kids were little. They loved the rear facing back seat. Built like a tank- great cruiser. Just kind of slow. My wife loved driving it except for lack of power pulling into traffic. Still a good looking car. Unfortunately I don't think MB's are built like that anymore...
