I like the concept photos, but could they have picked a more annoying mule disguise? Yuck.

Toyota will sell this alongside Subaru in the US as the Scion FR-S, and it will likely not get STI-eqsue treatment with more power. Leaked from a brochure:

I hope they put a 300+ hp turbo engine with rwd and keep the weight low.

Hopefully the LA Auto show on November 18th won't disappoint.

WTF is going on with Rennlist? Why is the OT forum not good enough for this?

The BRZ is not meant to be the new STI. It is supposed to be a lightweight (2600-2700 lbs) car in the vein of the Miata. There is no room for AWD in the chassis due to extremely low COG, nor was it designed to be such. The new STIs and WRXs , most likely MY2013 or 2014,are to be built on a new chassis and will be separate from the Imprezas that they have been based on. The BRZ and its Toyota sibling to be shown at the LA show will be concepts only, with production versions to be first shown at the Tokyo show as per agreement with Toyota.
As for this concept, Subaru has built lots of concepts that never make it to market; I believe this is one of them because the STI name comes with the cachet of the turbo; even the head of Subaru engineering said the BRZ won't have a turbo.
