Sedans?
Having made the choice to a 4S. It is a great car and you can get a reckless driving ticket in it on back roads. It does weight only 400 pounds more than a M3. It only seats 4 people so that could be an issue.
Drive all of them then stay with Porsche

Have a '06 A8 SWB sport- most comfortable cruiser DD I've ever had. Need good AWD for Iowa winters been driving Audis since 1980- loved my BMW's over the years, but never had a IX- figure nobody does 4WD better than Quattro.
A8 just turned 80K miles and going strong.

New A8 looks fantastic and is getting rave reviews

If I need AWD I just drive my f250 diesel. Best sedan I've ever owned was Audi RS4. would drive one again in a heartbeat- worst sedan I've ever owned was a benz. found everything about their experience and dealer service to be awful
The nicest grown-up AWD automobile I've driven is the Audi A8, and once you have learned how, you can hoon it big time - I spent a day chasing Sepp Haider (1.8T A4) in a 4.2 A8 - it took from breakfast to mid afternoon to figure out how to get past (Sepp is faster than almost anybody even in an old Opel), by that stage i was loving the car.
These are terrific to live with, the systems are so good, you can olption them up 'real purty' (warning quattro GmbH makes Porsche Exclusive look like the nickel and dime store, pricewise)

S550 4 matic.
The biggest baddest Benz has long been the staple in status.
Having it in all wheel drive makes for a great year round driver.
I turn my nose up at everything else

Pana goes best with GT3 but I don't like PDK at parking lot speeds, (You can badge it Turbo and change bumpers, rear spoilers and wheels. LOL couldn't help myself ;-)
S550 is getting a bit old, but cheap CPO with lots of warranty, AMG package makes them look nce.
& series post 2009 they look nice again, comfy good CPO program
CLS is much fresher, but for that price you buy a lot of CPO S class!
E550 don't like interrior and they look weird to me. Lowered AMG looks OK.
Our local MB dealer is awesome and I only buy certified ones and that has so far covered everything on the last 4 MB's.
I just listed my wife's CL65 for sale here on rennlist, still has 1 year and 55K miles on CPO warranty.
Looking for CPO 5 door 8 cylinders as well:
A7 (6 cilinder, but looks nice I think), 550 series GT, X5, ML63, CLS550, Panamera (But don't like PDK) Cayenne S, maybe range rover...I will go do some test drives in the coming weeks to see if I can trade in CL.
I know with the 2009 Quattroporte it felt like you were driving from on top of the car. Kind of weird.to explain. The Pana feels like you are part of the car. As if it were an extension of your body. Porsche has a way of engineering cars that way.
I have a Panamera Turbo. It's fabulous in winter when fitted with an extra set of wheels and Sottozeros. It's downright agricultural in bad snow and drives so well all the time, I can't imagine any other car for my DD.
If you want to have crazy powerhouse from mercedes - order yourself a Brabus - custom made car based on V12 turbo S600 Merc. That will be quite a unique ride. Or same custom tuned 7 series based BMW from Mansory.
it depends on the amount of space you need. While P likes to compare the Panny to the S and 7 class, the latter 2 are way bigger, esp in the rear. While Im a die hard Bimmer fan, i dont like the new 5. Havent driven the E AWD. My personal fav in the mid size segment is the Audi A6. I cant believe i just said that!
