it depends on the amount of space you need. While P likes to compare the Panny to the S and 7 class, the latter 2 are way bigger, esp in the rear. While Im a die hard Bimmer fan, i dont like the new 5. Havent driven the E AWD. My personal fav in the mid size segment is the Audi A6. I cant believe i just said that!
The '09 and later 5 and 7 I like, I kinda like the 5GT and the A7 and A6 look great to me..

pan in heartbeat out of those. its ugly on outside but beautiful on inside which is where you will spend all of your time.
me, i like small sedan. M3 sedan has been and continues to be most fun and practical car. works great in winter with decent snow tires and i'm talking german winter.

Mr Wilson is right. If I had a need for AWD or 4WD during crap weather I would get a dually of some sort. Guess that cones with living Bakersfield for.the greater part or 15 years where trucks are more of a vanity option for red-necks that live in town than an absolute necessity for living out in "The Ponderosa".
With that being said I must admit my love for the Panamera Turbo. I had a client pick me up from SFO the other week in his 2010 PanaTT. We got to talking about the performance and was astounded by the 0-60 with launch control turned on. Never experienced something that big going that fast so quickly out of the gate. Only downside I could see it being only a four seater. I wouldn't really have too many issues sitting in the rear with my 6'5" frame for extended trips provided whoever sits in front gives me just a little but more room.
My client, who's father is majority owner in this business I consult for, said his father has a Turbo S on order. Coming in at around $190K. Don't know if I could will myself to spending that money for that car. I know it is probably the best performing 4 Door car in the world, but I would rather add a cabriolet to Tue stable. A long the lines of the R8 Cab.

I already have the dually for the race trailer, but wifey not that keen on driving it. A bit hard to park.
+1 The Pana Turbo is pretty awesome. We did some drag racing in it last year. Shamed some flame throwing Evo's 1/8 mile.
Plenty of room in the back, they are just so much $$. Same like Cayenne, seems like a lot of money compared to competitors that are very similar. For track you need a Porsche, but for puttering around town Porsche money buys you a lot of nice comfy fast stuff.

I have a Panamera V6 loaner right now, and I think it just drives OK. Not at all great. The styling has not grown on me. I have experienced hot laps in a TT, and while impressive, it's not what I have a luxury sedan for.
And while I like the new 5-series styling, I'm not a fan of the new breed of turbo V8s. If I had to buy an AWD luxury sedan right now, I would probably seek out a slightly used S6 with the Lambo V10. Easy on the eyes, nice interior, unique, and last of an era.

I'm a fan of BMW, but the F10 M5 is very disappointing. Looks like a Taurus, has massive turbo lag (according to Automobile Mag first drive), and does not live up to M badge. I'd go with a CLS63 AMG all the way.
