Purchased A Jaguar F-Type Over A Porsche 992 And People Got Upset
I have 3 friends who purchased used F-Types in the last few years. One was a 2014 V8S for under $20K, another was a 2018 V8 with low miles for $35K, and another was a 2021 turbo 4 for $31K. It is now the most common car amongst my car enthusiast friends. If Jaguar offered the V8 with a manual transmission, I would have owned one by now.
My first concern was reliability, but I was told that the F-Type is far more reliable than the typical Jag reputation. All 3 vehicles have only required scheduled maintenance so far.

Currently have 2024 F Type, most comfortable seat of any car I’ve owned (previously owned XF) and 3 Porsches. All have been reliable, by today’s standards. Lucky?
When I think of low quality/ reliability these come to mind, not Jaguars:
1960s cars - truly junk and unsafe.
‘72 Audi - engine wore out at 72k miles, junked
‘85 Toyota Celica - engine failure 65k miles
‘93 Ford Taurus - @60k miles was in a race with the junk yard
’99 through ‘2003 Volvo s80s, tranny rebuilds were a regular maintenance item. Otherwise had good bones.
2001 Tundra, frame and brake lines rotted and replaced @ 9 years, followed by rotted steering rack and gas tank.
2016 Jeep Wrangler - bought used in 2019 sold after 3 years because of too many failures for the miles and poor service (4 trips to the dealer for each failure)
Reliabilty/quality bar is set pretty low for me, based on past experiences.
