The new 2025 M5
Given today's rampant inflation, the old metric unit of 1 metric ton = 2,200 lbs just isn't enough anymore. You gotta hand it to those crafty Germans though.. Enter the new M5 as the new unit of measure. 1 M5 = 5,390 lbs.

I've had a BMW as my daily for 15 years over many models, culminating my my current M8 Gran Coupe, which is a porker but is 1000 pounds less than this M5. But I have absolutely no interest in a plug in hybrid that weights that much and is that ugly. I'd still consider the M3, and actually like the M2, but the M5 is horrible.
I've always avoided the Panamera because I thought it was ugly, but it is now the beauty queen by comparison, and the GTS is still without battery. If I had to buy today, I'd still take my aging M8, followed by the Panamera GTS. What else is there as a large, gas powered, fast luxury sedan?

Aesthetics and weight aside... I have always been a big fan of M cars and drove them daily for probably 15 years (basically covered the whole lineup from coupe to sedan to X5M). The biggest win with the new M5 is that the finally brought the Touring to the US. Too bad Audi had to have the ***** to test the market first, but still glad to see an M Touring stateside!

I saw the sedan and wagon in person at the kickoff event.
I thought it was a bit too big. The overall look isn't for me - design language and size. The biggest negative though was the colors on both the interior and exterior. The green was too much. The leather looked intense - almost neon. Just not my thing.
It also didn't look upscale or cozy to me. Hard to explain. It almost looked "fake".
I didn't drive one, so I have no opinion on that.
I've owned 5 BMWs (although it's been a long time).

M is for Meh
But it's the same as the 992.2 GT3 and the 12C ... a lesser version than the previous gen cause we're barely holding on to what we have.
At least BMW had the good sense not to raise the price from the previous gen. And still, my BWM dealer has had all of two orders for them.
