Thoughts on the new Z?

I like it. Front end needs some work. Someone already edited the front grille and it looked way better.
its a still a pre-production vehicle and there is room to make changes.
Overall I’m left liking it.
Depending the price, it might be a fantastic value proposition.

Reminds me of a Miata from the front, which is fine for a Miata. And the rear really bothers me. I have to give then props for the complete redesign. It was due for sure.

It's a very bland looking car. Considering that it will go up against the Supra, I think the Supra has way more character than this new Z. Yes, the Supra is flawed because it's basically a BMW underneath but by all accounts, the chassis of the Supra is very good. The 3L turbo in-line 6 is sublime even if it's a BMW engine but supposedly Toyota tuned the chassis and suspension and it would appear that they did a good job. Price point of the Supra seems like a bargain too considering the performance you're getting for the dollar. Can you live with the BMW underpinnings though?
For the Z, it will be important to see how it performs when the reviews are out. Maybe they have other versions coming with more aggressive designs but again, this is way too bland for me. Sport cars in my opinion need to make you want them just based on design. They need to catch your eye. This Z would just fade away in a group of sports cars if simply based on looks.

I love Z cars and still own the 350Z I bought in 2003. I’m sure it’s personal bias but I think that old car looks better than the new prototype. ItS looks aren’t perfect but it has character and a mechanical feel to it that few new cars can touch. It’s no 911 in the handling or high RPM departments though! After 17 years of ownership and almost 60k miles I was thrilled to have 0 fault codes today when I ran a diagnostic on it. Hard to fault that!
