Gt3, What an amazing machine. alt title: Got a Miata
Recently added this as a second weekend / fun car. I had been wanting a drop top for some time and was searching for an S2000 but got tired of the work involved in all the due diligence of making sure I got one in great shape. Timing seemed good and went instead with a new 2020 mx-5 Miata manual. I know this is quite a departure from something as high end as a Gt3 but there is quite an experience in driving a car that only weighs 2300 pounds. I'd say it's the closest thing to having a motorcycle while still being able to have 4 wheels. It really is like a go cart for the streets. Anyways I've been having a blast buzzing around b roads with the top down and rowing through the gears. The gearbox and clutch is fantastically easy and satisfying. One of the best parts is being able to drive a slow car fast. 60 mph feels like 90. I can have a ball without worry of losing my license.
After several days of this I decided today to get back in my gt3 for a quick drive. Holy smokes! It was like experiencing it for the first time all over again. Got that same rush and euphoria after a few blasts to the redline.
These are two amazing cars, on different ends of the spectrum, each with its own advantages.

Great post! Love the perspective. I used to race a Boxster and then once or twice I would take my gt3 out and it was mind blowing. Cool Miata, solid purchase!
And, they have a fantastic factory and aftermarket support for the track.

Congratulations, my wife has had two Miatas and I think I enjoyed driving them more than she did.
A light and balanced modern sports car with great shift feel and a raspy exhaust, what’s not to love?
I only wish the car had slightly more damping and a bit less body roll to go with it’s additional power.

My girlfriend has that exact car as her daily. She replaced an '09 Boxster she bought new that got to the point of spending $3-4k a year in repairs. I'm used to that kind of stuff but she isn't! She's had the Miata 3 years or so and has done nothing but put a set of tires on it and done a few oil changes. The only issue she's had was the drain holes plugged and she was getting moisture in the floor during rain, but that was self-inflicted by not cleaning the leaf baskets. It's a lot of fun to drive, handles and sounds great, and has a manual gearbox that rivals the Porsche GT cars. Her's is just about to go out of warranty and she's probably going to get another one. They bumped the power a bit last year and I haven't driven the newest version, but I'll bet another 20hp is very noticeable on that car. The best thing about the Miata is that if it depreciates to nothing you're only out $30k! They actually have great resale, which is a bonus.

power corrupts and not that great on street
the sensation of FLOORED literally EVERY WHERE is really something else.
I had 93,95 99 miata
now a 914, chasing my friends in GT3's. they wonder how I keep up. I had the throttle pegged and every gear I had to bounce off the limiter. I don't brake much, and sometimes I got close to using their rear bumper to slow me down. it can be as fun as and GT3...

Also here a GT3 / MX-5 owner. Mine is a black 2012 NC, 2.0l Sport, with Mazdaspeed lowering spring and a Goodwin Roadster Sport exhaust. It's a really good compliment to the GT3 and so fun to drive already in 70-80km/h...
