Design or screw up ? Supra OT
Just saw the new supra . Thought it was kind of ugly the dealer wants 30 over . What a joke ,when I was looking at the car I noticed the door trim was
different colors? One was all black and the other was black and red. Can't belive it's supposed to be like that? If not what a screw up and no quality control. Carl

IMHO...major Screw Up! What a way to destroy the Supra legacy with a BMW clone....it may perform and has upgrade potential but not my cup of tea, specially that design.
Interior is pure BMW also. At least they could have done a bit more for the interior.
Dealers down here are also asking outrageous ADMs for the Supra...not worth the money.
Early adopters and the new thing crowd will flock and buy it and then it will go down the way of the new NSX with major incentives to move them

My prognostication, as a former MkIV Supra owner, is that there is some strong initial demand for those diehards that just have to have this car and then it drops off a cliff! I guess dealers figure they better make hay while the sun is at least above the horizon! Agree with previous comments; interior is straight BMW with 0 effort made to differentiate from a Z4. Probably not bad, just not different. I've had all the Japanese sports cars in the past; RX7, 300zx, Supra, Evo and am, in general a big fan. This one really leaves me non-plussed. Also, having attended the 2014 NY Auto show where the concept was debuted, it just didn't quite make the translation. Too short of a wheelbase, too narrow in width...Concept looked awesome though.... and the most important thing. NO MANUAL Transmission! Now there's a company that doesn't know their intended audience at all. I actually can see not having one in the new C8 but not in this car. A torque converter auto?? Was a CVT not available to seal the deal?

Another fine example of over - designing things just to be different and bold...kind of remind me of GMs "Transformer" design theme adding scopes and angles where they are not necessary.

So let me get this.....Launch edition is 1500 units and then what? Regular Edition of 30,000 units? Does the LE has anything special besides that cheap decal on the dash?....again, they could at least done some kind of alloy/metal plaque.

I too am very disappointed with the new Supra. I was very tempted to try to get an "allocation" at my local dealer for one when it was announced, but decided to wait till I saw the actual production model. Boy, was I glad I waited. Not for me. I don't mind it being a BMW underneath, but it is a bit of a let down. I was hoping for a "3JZ", not a BMW motor. They really should have just produced the concept, and not messed with the exterior design. I'm a die hard Supra fan, my first few cars were Supras. I've had a Mk2 and some Mk3's. I plan on buying a Mk4 one of these days, but the Mk5 is a real let down. Especially with no manual option. ADM is just plain dumb.

The FT1 was gorgeous, the "Supra" is a complete disappointment.
BTW: BMW always cheapens out on brakes, floating caliper brake system in the rear on a $50K car that might see track use.. . (Guess most reviews don't bother to take pictures of the rear brakes)
