'New F1'
New supercar announced by F1 designer Gordon Murray and it's basically the perfect car. Less than 1,000 kg, V12 revving to over 12k, manual gearbox. No electric gubbins. Etc etc.

Nice! I love some of the parts about this. 6 speed manual. TC only, no stability control, no hybrid system, no other electronic intervention or complication. The downforce idea is cool. Hopefully it's impactful. I hope this starts a future trend of driver connected cars and not just a one upmanship for electronically assisted laptime machines.

I do wonder how he's going to get the funding for this fantastic project. 100 cars at $2M, even if every potential owner pays full fat up front.. how do you even develop an engine like that for $200M?... let alone an entire series of brand new cars, spares for the series.. Gordon Murray rarely fails, and he's every gearhead's hero for sure.. he's definitely mine... and I want to see this project succeed as it would be the last, true, analog sports car, and the true #sonofF1
but I don't quite see how the math adds up at this early stage without a major manufacturer or funding source behind them?

An amazing concept, mostly want to experience that engine. V12 at 12k would be incredible. No hybrid or other nonsense. I share the skepticism around the math but hopefully it all works out.

Gawd, I'm old enough to remember that Brabham fan car. If memory serves, didn't the FIA outlaw it's use after one race, not just because of the unfair aerodynamic advantage, but also because the car kicked up road debris through it's fan, thereby making it unsafe for the cars following behind it?
How are they going to mitigate that with a road car, allow it to pass the government regulators and make it road legal?

This really shows how McLaren just "mailed it in" with the Longtail, hoping that the F1 aura would distract from that car's very derivative design and engine configuration.
It will also be interesting to see as Jim Glickenhaus is looking at a very similar 3-seat design with his SCGOO4. In fact it's very easy to see how autocar copied from the Glickenhaus car to create the renders for the Murray T.50.

The Chaparral 2J (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaparral_Cars#2J, "the car that looked like the box it came in") introduced ducted fans for providing downforce nearly a decade before the Brabham.

Not us legal for no electronic stability control as well. Or EU legal for the same reason unless there is some low volume exception.
I don't understand the hate for ESC as it can be turned off.
