You can't do this in a 458 or GT car! Get the Lusso/FF.

PS I shot that some 7 years ago, those rear seats were/are a godsend and way cool for the kiddos.

We have an FF for sale at our store with an extended warranty. I love the car, and am in a similar boat. I have 2 small kids (2 and 4 months) and my M5 stick shift is the daughter driver. She's big enough now to sit facing forward.

V12 over the 458 all day. No question. More power, better noises.

If the 458 is just sitting in your garage unused, get the Lusso. Lusso is a goodlooking car in and out. Add that V12 sound in the mix and you have a winner !

I drive it as much as I can which isn't a lot.....I know getting a 4 seater is the right move and I'm becoming less emotionally attached to the 458.....it's just a matter of time to mentally make the move and spend the money.....it won't be a cheap switch.....

True, financially it will not make sense ! But does it ever ? We are petrolheads for a reason. If you only factor in finances, we would only be driving boring cars ! You do the math for your situation and see if it's worth it to you or not. Nobody here can do that for you. I can only say as a petrolhead I love the GT4CLusso and finances aside, I would make the trade so you have a marvellous car you can enjoy all the time with your family as opposed to one you can only sample a few times a year in solitude ! :-)
(if it were a Speciale I might have said otherwise)

Keep us posted !

Eric
By reading this tread, I believe you are in love with the Lusso but just feel "wrong" about trading your ex-458.
Happens to me all the time (with cars only, ouf...). You know, when you try to justify with rational arguments something that is purely emotional.

You have the budget to do it? Then just do it.

The Lusso is an epic car, your kids may remerber it someday and... life is short

Biggest and only negative on the Lusso is you can't use it for road trips and feel comfortable with it parked anywhere. Something like a Panamera is better in that case, but a Ferrari V12 can't be beat.

I feel very wrong about trading the 458.....I'm not quite yet in love with the Lusso but it's growing on me the more I research it.....there are very few cars out there IMO that are visually as beautiful as the 458....I know it's the "right" decision for my situation.....over the years I've gotten a ton of enjoyment with Ferrari ownership....I know I would be able to have even more of that with a 2 + 2.....I just need to get over some mental humps....

i do search also a emotional car with 2+1 (+2 soon )

wifey don´t like to flight.
i don´t like to stay long at one place.
holidays solved. at the norwegian sea at the fjords. down to the cote azur.

FF would fit into budget.
Lusso better. but €.

i think i´ll start with FF.
€ hurts more than the little better holidays will cure the pain.
for daily driving i don´t need a F V12. and for 80% i couldn´t use it / for business purpose.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Could a California be a solution between Ferrari, 4seater and €?
i guess it rides same good as a FF - but no V12...

I am surprised nobody mentioned you don’t need a 4 seater to take your kids. Unless, you want to take your wife, but that will take away from the quality time with your kids.

The best option would be a Mclaren F1, 3 Seats, and no Ferrari will compare! That is my vote.

When my kids were younger I had the same dilemma, and always had a 4 seat sports car(911 Turbo S, Maserati, California etc.) in addition to my other cars for this purpose. Now that they are teenagers they don’t want to be in the same car anymore

You are doing the right thing.

I was in your situation years ago although i had two seat Porsches not Ferraris.I started to resent two seaters as i had a kid for the first time and the Porsche were getting hardly any use..I sold the sports car and bought something more practical for family use.No regrets whatsoever.!
In your situation i would either get a FF or if finances allow even better a GTC4 Lusso..I think the Lusso is an outstanding and highly desirable car and i would love one myself..You could even get the 2WD Turbo version which uses less fuel and cheaper to buy, however personally i would stretch to the V12.

Yes it's V12 or nothing!

458's will continue to depreciate, so if you make the move and later regret it, you can always go back to the 458.
