Default First Porsche: Green 996 Cabriolet

I bought a 2001 911 Cabriolet a couple of weeks ago with 130k miles on it. I have always wanted a green car and the one I purchased is in Rain Forest Green Metallic. I had a 2016 Miata as my daily driver for the last 2.5 years and this 996 has replaced it. I have had the passenger radiator, clutch/RMS (IMS had already been updated), engine mounts replaced, and the hydraulic arms of the soft top rebuilt. The clutch and the engine mounts made a huge difference in how the car feels. I just had the function first shift right kit delivered and I am excited to install that onto the car. The shifter on my Miata felt a lot better honestly so I am hoping this kit will help with feel.

I was not planning on jumping into Porsche ownership this soon but absolutely enamored with my car!

Want to get rid of the window tint I think

Congrats! How does it drive compared to the Miata?

The steering was a lot firmer in the Porsche was the immediate difference I noticed. I have not really pushed the car yet to get an understanding of their differences but man is this thing much faster in a straight line. Have you had the soft top on yours replaced, I am debating doing mine come winter.

I did have my top replaced. The cables that run all the way up and down the sides started to come apart. I paid a shop that specializes in tops do the work. The top was $1k, the labor was $1k, so $2k all in. The re-used the headliner and I stuck with the plastic window (original-style) top. There is a glass option top for an extra $800 or so. The dealer wanted $8k for the top.

Beautiful car. Love the color. I too made the transition from a Miata (NA) to a 996, although not a convertible. Spiritually very similar cars and you're right about the steering. There is a wee bit more power in the 996. :-)
