Hey guys. This is my first post. So I have owned a few cars in my day but I just purchased my first Porsche. 2018 gt3 touring. I have a 67 manual 4 speed camaro. Had a manual c 2014 z28. Had some manual AUDIS, jeeps etc. I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE MANUAL. But today I really blew it. I have had the car for 3 days and I dump it from 3rd to second at about 6000+ Rpms and hit the rev limiter.. I think? It happened to fast. I’m still getting used to a 9000red line and thought I had more room but the car made this awful bouncing sound like a dirt bike throttle in neutral.. which I think was the rev limiter. Wondering if I did that with throttle or momentum or both. I can’t remember now I just know I saw the rpms fluttering - I was maybe going 75? I’m thinking that limiter wouldn’t have even happened if I money shifted because the momentum wouldn’t have let it flutter that way? should I not go to dealership for over rev check? Any ideas.
You're fine, if heard the rev limiter then you didn't have the clutch out. A money shift, will go past the rev limiter, there's nothing the car can do to stop it. If you want to see what happened, take the car to the dealer or independent and have them use the PIWIS to read the over rev ranges.

+1
Rev-limiter can only limit fuel/combustion processes from exceeding the defined limit (i.e., when accelerating), not the mechanical spinning of the engine that comes from in-gear inertia (as from a downshift).
