    Mr. Zimmermann,

I'm in the process of converting my 1972 911 Targa T from a Sportomatic to a 915/61 five speed transmission. My question is will the axles from the 1972 fit the 915/61 transmission? It is my understanding that this transmission came out of a 1978/79.

    Any information would be appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Savino

Pete, Just finished a post regarding a damaged oil pickup tube. I have a similar problem so I need to replace it with the engine in the car. What would be the best type of material to use as a glue? The post mentioned epoxy (JB Weld?) and someone else on Pelican said silicon cement. Please advise
    Thank you, Guy Sutton

Mr. Zimmermann, I have just discovered this forum and your treatise on PPI's. Next stop is Amazon. However in the mean time the 'car of my dreams' is sitting in a shop in Costa Mesa Ca. and I am sitting at home in Ontario Canada wondering how I might source a reliable shop ( other than the one selling my dream car: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...ht_22866wt_907 ), with any precision. Is there a listing for such services?
I am looking forward to reading your book but fear it might be 'after the fact' reading...I was a member of the PCA, ( Rennsport Region ) for many years with my 2.7 911 ( LOTS of engine issues...) but have been away from the marque since 1986.
    Sorry to trouble you...

You'r awsking yourself why I'm contacting you about this ,
well , I'm hoping you could point me at some statements , are written facts about this pulling headstuds , so that I can prove to the court this was not a hiddin failure , but commen problem on this engines , specially when racing a 2.7 engine after years of not been driving , with a engine that didn't had a rebuild before .
I do have your book in front of me , so that is where I want to start with .
Hope to receive Re from you ,

    Hi Peter ,
for some time now I'm BIG fan of the '74-'77 Porsche's with 2.7 engines , as you are ,
and I came across your name in lots of forums .
As a enthousiast I bought and sold a lot of those cars true the years .
Since some years we uphere in Europ have a law that say's we have to give warranty when selling used car as a dealer , but the law didn't take the time to look into that for older cars .
Now , some years ago I sold a 1976 911S targa that I bought near San Francisco , just over 100.000 miles , and garaged without beeing used for years .
Car was running driving when I sold it , but needed resto .
New owner had the car painted , and gone true brakes , interieur etc .
After he used the car in couple rally's he came back to me complaining about oilleaks , and we found the pulled studs , offcourse ....
Now he started a lawsuit and want me to pay for his enginerebuild .
