Doug, first let me introduce myself. My name is Austin English and I live in Wichita Kansas. I have a 2002 996, I've had it for about three years. I have been kinda following your posts since I purchased my car, you seem very knowledgable and friendly. Well, I would like to solicit your help. I have a 'ticking' sound coming from the passenger side of my engine. To me it sounds like a stuck lifter. I have taken it to and am very friendly with my local Porsche dealer master tech, I work for Snapon Tools and he thinks the same. I have run BG109 through the engine with the hope of cleaning out any gunk...same issue. I am going to remove the engine, with my Porsche master techs, assistance. I want to replace ALL the lifters while the engine is out. I've replaced the IMS bearing with the Jake's product. Also, I have installed high flow cats, old ones where busted up internally. What I am asking for it the BMW Part number of the lifters that work for my 996.

I was wondering if you still had the 996 1-3 cylinder head for sale. I pulled the #1 plug on my 2000 996 cab due to a miss, and got about 1/2 cup of coolant through the spark plug hole. I pulled the head -- no visible crack but haven't sent off for testing yet.

    Thanks,
    Rick

Could you post or send me the diagrams for the tools/workarounds that you mentioned for the cam timing, etc? My 99 3.4 ate every valve and piston, so I am looking at rebuilding the !@#$% thing.
    Thanks

    Hi
just reading your post from a few years ago regarding fitting threaded plugs into the ends of the camshafts, following failure of the pressed in core plugs. Can you tell me the thread size of the new threaded plugs ie M12, M14 etc ?
    Many thanks John

    Hi Dharn55,

I came across this Sachs Clutch Kit on eBay that seem to be a good deal and thought to ask your advice if this is the right one for my Targa? The only thing is missing the package which I don't think it is a big deal. P/N: 996 116 911 02

    What do you think?

    Thanks in advance!
