-Are you aware of anything the car currently needs (e.g. tires, exhaust, etc)? Has it had any accidents, apart from the fender bender you describe?

As far as I know the car is up on maintenance. The oil was changed in May if I remember correctly. It passed inspection in December. As far as I know the car has never been in any accident of any kind other than what I described. I have pictures of the damage that occurred. I was deliberate to not have the panels even removed from the car as they're welded on, not bolted and the original welds are intact. Tires are relatively new in the last 2 years or so I replaced them. The exhaust is stock aside from the muffler bypass I put in a while ago. It really makes it sound how it should without being obnoxious and still has stock tips.

    - Is it just the motor of the top that needs replacing, or other things as well? Is the top itself in good shape?

The top itself is in good shape. The canvas shows some wear but it doesn't leak or anything. Just the motor that raises and lowers it. With the 993's they have this "pin" that regardless of how you put the top down, you need to nudge the canvas out of the way of the pin to prevent puncturing the top. I had heard of guys switching to manual operation, so I figured I would try it and I ended up preferring it to the full power, I think it's quicker this way. Otherwise the latches are still operated by the button on the console.

    - Do you have some more information about the engine rebuild?

The car was leaking oil from several places, and there were some other issues that I don't fully recall that justified the full rebuild. I did get an independent opinion prior to authorizing the rebuild. As I'm sure you're aware, these are the Mezger engines which are designed to be rebuilt. Once they got the motor apart they had to "hone the journals" which was described to me as the hole that affixes the piston to the crankshaft as being "out of round". Everything was corrected from that to a new alternator. I did not want to have to open the engine again during my ownership. If you are interested we can get into a more detailed discussion on this. I have some photos of when the engine was apart. The car now has billet head covers because the OEM ones were known to warp over time.

    - Was the previous owner of the car the first one (making you the second)?
I believe I am the 3rd Owner. Carfax shows the car as having 3 before me, but I'm making an inference that I am the 3rd. The car was located in Florida prior to the guy I bought off of. Based on the records, the same guy owned it when it was titled in Florida and then Buffalo, but I believe it was in the company's name and then switched to the individual who owned it.

    Hi Axel,

I had sent a nice detailed message but this thing limits me to 1000 characters per message.

My email is r.krevat@gmail.com, I think it might be best for me to issue a full response there.

In the meantime I'll try and break it up into a few messages.
