MrMr, after taking 1 a break I was able to get back to the AOS removal and was able to successfully remove the lower clamps at the accordion boot. With everything being removed the two 10mm bolts and all other hoses removed I was able to use a pair of channel lock pliers and clamp the clip together so that it would be loose with one hand motion I was able to remove the entire AOS. The new AOS I purchased included a new accordion boot and I purchased a new clamp with a blue holder that is to be removed when installing into car and once removed the retention clip holds the accordion boot in place. So it was kind of an easy job in retrospect. Now I have a new dilemma, I dropped the oil pan to reseal it and found multiple pieces of black hard plastic reminiscent of the chain tensioners. So I might drop the whole motor to inspect and do the dreaded IMS upgrade. Currently searching for loaner tools and gear to do the job. Hope your project turns out easier than mine.

Thank you for contacting me, I think you have a six sense my friend because that is exactly where I am at on my AOS project.
I knew it was bound to happen and I preemptively purchased a replacement OAS about a month ago. This weekend while joy riding I had the infamous cloud of white smoke during acceleration and the high pitch whining sound indicative of a failed AOS. Got her home to my garage and I turned to on maintenance. I removed the entire left air intake manifold which was just bathed in oil and now I am stuck at the removal of the accordion hose with the two pressure clamps too. I thought about cutting the accordion hose (saw that on a post) and removing the clamps later since I have two replacement ones and a hose on hand. Anyhow I'm all ears about how to combat the struggle if you have passed this hurdle. My car is a Trip as well so the room via the wheel well and motor are very limited as you know even after dropping the engine about an 1" or 2".
