Description:

Ok Rennlist, here is another fun one for you green fans. I have a fantastic 1997 993 C2 manual coupe in CXX "special wishes" forest green over cashmere beige. I acquired this car earlier this year from California to add to the air cooled stable but my 86 hot rod is taking up all of my time and garage space.

I know those of us with 992 GT3's have become accustomed to the myriad of paint to sample cars out there but in 1997, there were no PTS allocations. Custom color cars like this were sold as CXX / Exclusive Manufaktur only. This was the infamous " Special Wishes" program. There is no known quantity of PTS air-cooled 911s, as this information was never publicly released.

This specification is absolutely brilliant. Forest green remains subtle in low light scenarios, and warms up and brightens in the sun. The car comes with extensive service history and includes the below:

  • 20+ Years of service records
  • $25k Spent on recent service in the last 2 years/3,000 Miles
  • Top end engine overhaul and re-seal at 136,500 Miles at Arredondo Motorsports, Torrence CA
  • New Clutch, Throwout Bearing, Main Shaft, Shift Rod Seal ,Rear Main Seal, etc.
  • Fister Motorsports " Stage 2" Mufflers, RS carbon fiber Air Duct, Rennline Pedal Set, New Brake Pads, Rotors
  • Full suspension refresh under my ownership including new factory M033 Springs on Koni FSD shocks and more
  • New Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires
The car has had everything addressed and is ready to go. It is being stored and also co-listed with ChangeDriven here in Charlotte as the owner is a friend of mine. Feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss.

Option List:
  • 00501 - Special Order Color
  • L22E – Forest Green Metallic paint
  • LC – Black and Cashmere Beige partial leather
  • C02 – Version for USA
  • 240 – Internal production code related to fueling
  • 329 – Becker-Porsche CR-210 cassette stereo
  • 408 – 18″ Technology wheels (hollow spoke)
  • 425 – Rear window wiper
  • 437 – Eight-way power-adjustable seat, left
  • 445 – Wheel caps with full-color Porsche crests
  • 490 – Hi-Fi sound system
  • 586 – Driver-seat lumbar support
  • 650 – Power sunroof
  • 692 – Becker-Porsche CDC-3 six-disc CD changer

Seems like a lot of good service was done to the car. Aside from suspension, what has been done since the BAT sale in March?

Full new suspension all around, alignment, wheel refinishing, new center caps, new tires, new bump stops, new wheel spacers, new rock guards, full paint correction, interior leather recon, various small repairs inside and out, full service (oil, brakes, etc.)

There's more I am missing but that's off the top of my head. The car needed some TLC and we did everything right and with the best parts available (Michelin PS4S tires, Koni/OEM suspension components, etc.)

A bit confused, if someone could enlighten me. Car was purchased for 80k a few months ago. So was there 35k worth of work/value added over the last few months? Or did the 993 market recently spike?
Suspension and cosmetic bits are probably $10k retail of work, max. The rest is well, optimistic.

Gold, happy to enlighten you on the general 993 market and also cost to recondition cars. PM me and we can chat anytime.

We took a big risk on this car given the lack of history (see auction details / comments) and subsequently did the work post-auction to validate the engine rebuild (including flying out and meeting with the builder at his shop in California) and significant investment in bringing the rest of the car up to my standards. It pulls hard, everything now works (we had some electrical gremlins that were also remedied and excluded in my list above), and also finally looks the part too.

The BaT result was well under market value due to a number of factors. Anyone who is active in this market can see that. IMO OP took a gamble others weren't willing to take and fortunately for him the car checked out and ended up being better than expected. I was watching the auction and was curious if the car would pop back up. Glad to see it has been given the appropriate TLC by an enthusiast.

No harm in fishing, but optimistic indeed.

Being an air-cooled Porsche owner who bought a car needing some TLC, I can attest to the value of buying something turn-key. When you buy off BaT, you might get something turn-key, but most likely you'll need to sink $20k into it.

Love the color!

And it’s a slicktop! Cool spec. Only thing I would change is a rear wiper delete. GLWS.
