Description:
For sale is my cherished Porsche 944 turbo that I've owned for over 20 years. The car is in great condition aesthetically and mechanically, all service items are up-to-date and it has been well cared for and enjoyed. Extensive records going back to my original purchase and additional records for some time before I owned this car. I have actually driven and enjoyed this car a lot and it currently has about 142,000 miles on it, but this is not your typical 142,000 mile car as you will see below.
In 2000 after I first got the car, I repainted it the original Garnet Red Metallic due to clear coat peeling and road rash on the front end. The car was not in any accident or damaged in any other way. The paint and overall appearance of this 944 turbo has held up well despite the constant use as my daily driver and many, many road trips that I used this car for, but there are some imperfections here and there. Car has been recently ceramic coated.
About 17 years ago (about 40,000 miles ago), I preemptively rebuilt the entire engine (including having the head rebuilt) and the turbo. The clutch was replaced with a Sachs kit, and the OEM flywheel was lightened slightly and resurfaced at the time of the clutch replacement. I've replaced all of the hoses, the water pump, the two thermostats, replaced the radiator, and many other engine-related parts. I replaced the original shocks with Koni adjustable shocks front and rear and replaced all of the brake rotors and pads. All fluids and other maintenance items including the timing and balance shaft belts have been replaced on a regular schedule. The OEM headers were Jet-Hot Coated as well. The only "performance" mods are a Lindsey Boost Enhancer, shimmed wastegate, 3.0 bar FPR, DME/KLR chips, and the Turbo is a K26/8 hybrid which was done at the time I had the turbo rebuilt.
The interior is in exceptional condition with only slight wear here and there ... certainly much better than most and the dashboard is un-cracked. This car has two sunroof options ... the original painted fiberglass roof panel and a Saratoga glass panel. Both are perfect condition and do not leak or have any other issues and the roof operates as it is supposed to. All electronics, including the cruise control works correctly.
I have two keys for the car and extensive records will go with the car upon sale. I have a clean title on-hand and ready to transfer at the time of the sale.
I am selling my 944 turbo after 20+ years because I simply do not have time to enjoy and drive it like I once did and it mainly sits in storage now. Nothing is wrong, it runs and drives just fine ... I just no longer have the time to enjoy it like it should be and I am hoping it will find a new home with someone able to enjoy it like I did over the past two decades.
Pictures are part of my description and more photos and/or details, to include a summary of all maintenance items over 20 years, can be made available upon request.
Payment details can be arranged, but my preference is wire transfer or cash in person at pickup.
Buyer is responsible for pickup and/or shipping arrangements. Car is located near San Antonio, Texas.
I request you start up a dialogue with me about the car before making any offers to buy it. I do not want any trades, nor do I want your help selling the car. This car is a very nice example and not a beater or one that needs to be rebuilt, but it is also not going to win Pebble Beach top honors and be worth mega bucks, so adjust your expectations accordingly. I believe I've priced this car appropriately with some negotiation room, but if you want a super cheap 944 turbo, or a mega buck perfect, never touched except by a white cotton glove with 10 miles on it ... you need to look elsewhere. Please take the time to ask questions, get additional photos and/or arrange a test drive. I ask that you respect my time and yours.
In the case that someone wants to point out that non-sunroof 944's had metal roofs, then bonus prize for you... that is true. But my car has a sunroof so the sunroof panel (the part that moves and removes) is fiberglass, just like all others ever manufactured by Porsche.
