The funny thing is, we're discussing a "problem" that every other car I can think of has always had. If you didn't have the key, you couldn't hit the button on it to lock the car. Or the key fob for the alarm (usually attached to the key). And before that, if you didn't have the key you couldn't turn it in the lock to lock the car. I'm even having trouble remembering any cars that wouldn't "helpfully" unlock at least one door if you pushed the button or the stem inside and closed the door.
