Macan Turbo vs. S...
#16
We've had a Turbo since July last year - have an S that is due in the next few weeks. Plan is to replace the Turbo with something else, after having lived with it for a year I don't think it's worth the premium for the type of driving it gets used for.

I had an S for 9 months and then sold it and bought a Turbo. Honestly around town, there is hardly any difference in performance. Blindfolded, you would be hard pressed to pick the difference. Step off in 1st and 2nd is good. Indeed, I got a lift in the back seat of an S the other day in Leipzig by a Porsche Driving instructor and I had to double check that it wasn't a Turbo.
So why did I buy a Turbo? The biggest difference is out on the highway in the mid-range. I do a lot of Autobahn driving where going from 120-160+ is important to me. It's here where the performance differential kicks in. And it's not really due to the HP difference, it's due to the Torque. So in reality, I bought the Turbo for the mid-rage Torque, not the HP. If this doesn't matter to you, then the S is fine.

Great viewpoints guys. Tku. IF I pull the trigger the car will be really 80% booting around the city and some trips to Whistler etc...
The simple thing that bugs me between the two is the PDK shifter in the S looks lame in comparison to the Turbo. I haven't gone onto the configurator to see if it's an option. Anybody know?

Ah... the niceties money can buy!

Actually, when I drove them they were different. The S had a simple PDK shif ****, rather plain, and the Turbo the nicer, more featured aluminum as in:

Three Wheelin'
Yes - understood. I drove them both and liked them both. I drove the Turbo FIRST in attempt to see that IF I did go with the S, would I be wishing for the Turbo etc... and frankly I'm not sure. Both have got enough spit to get impounded by the local traffic authorities. The S I drove was full leather with a wood package. Would want the Spyder wheels and maybe some red seat belts in the front but short of that I think I could "live" with the S. The Turbo air suspension and bigger brakes are a nice option but for 20K, a year down the road, would it matter? It's interesting now Christian that you are up grading to the Turbo. This may influence my decision. Did you get into situations where you needed the extra "Viagra" under the hood?
well, i have owned the turbo now for a couple of weeks, put about 200 miles on it. i liked the S a lot but everytime i drove it i missed the pull and grunt i was use to in other vehicles i own and have owned. i can tell u this the turbo pulls much harder than the s, the interior is much nicer IMO and the brakes are a lot better, definitely sportier than the S.
i loved the S and I pretty much didn't lose a dime when i traded for the Turbo and very glad i did, worth the extra money IMO especially if you are use to quick vehicles etc. If you have never had the Cayenne TT or 911 turbos etc than the S is great but if you want something with ***** get the turbo
