I have a 2017 Audi SQ5 and a 2019 Macan......well the SQ5 is the wifeys ride. The aftermarket hitches are the same for either vehicle.
I bought the Macan to replace my 2010 Audi S4.
My max fun car is a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport.....

Or you could do it correctly and add the factory hitch AND VALANCE so the next owner can legit haul pavers in a U-Haul trailer.
The P-system replaces the entire rear alloy impact frame with a solid pure steel beam with the hitch hardware welded in place from the EU and there's a spec valance to match (as well as trailer light hardware/wires.)
You need a substantially strong receiver to handle not just the weight the bikes and hitch mount rack itself but the stresses brought on by the washboard road up to the trail.
Interesting information and really good points, MrM. Thanks.

God bless you,

A small point....I personally avoid any used cars that have trailer hitches...who knows what they were towing and what wear that has caused on the transmission etc...
If you are just using the hitch for a bike rack...go for a GOOD and WELL INSTALLED AFTERMARKET HITCH NO WIRING....
(AND I'ts an $80,000 vehicle most likely)

The factory hitch design on the Macan looks like an afterthought. Why isn’t there an integrated bumper cover to hide it when not in use? It’s hideous on an otherwise nice design.

Unless you plan to tow with it I don’t see the need to add it. I’d be shocked if it’s going to be a resale concern if it’s not there.
