Question Macan S vs 911

I am looking for a weekend car. Started looking at some used 997.2 C2S w/PDK. While it is difficult to find a low mileage good condition 997, I am considering a brand new Macan S for the similar price.

I would like to hear from people with experience on both, and share their experience between the Macan S and C2S. I see myself going to track/autocross events 2-3 times a year. Can I do that on the Macan S?

since its a WEEKEND car and space and foul weather wont be issues. I would opt for the 997.
While the Macan is a segment leader it doesnt compare to the 997. plus hurling a 4500lb car around a track is not fun.

Sounded like I don't need to test drive the Macan and continue to search for a 911.

I was watching those "Macan chasing 911" "Macan vs 911 Real Pursuit" ... videos on YouTube. The Macan hangs pretty well behind the 911.

Don't assume the 911 was actually racing with the Macan. If it was, it would have left the Macan in its dust.

for a weekend car you will want the 911.
The macan is a daily beater.

The macan is very fast but a 911 more fun. If you can search for a nice GTS model 997.

Why not test a 911 and a Macan back to back?

I'm certain the Porsche centre will have new and pre-owned 911's to compare to the new Macan demo's.

Take home the one which you want to own.

Macan is just a car, and probably going to be as ubiquitous as a Q5 a year from now. I may order one just for that reason; a fun daily driver thing. A 911 is a 911. Any 911, regardless of how crappy, is something someone will want in 20 years. That makes it different than a "regular" car like a Macan. My two cents.

I have a 997.2 GTS and 2006 Cayenne S and have test driven the Macan S a few times. I expected the Macan to be midpoint on the spectrum between the Cayenne and 911, but it was not. Much closer to the 911 than the Cayenne (not at the limit, but the average feel on the roads). I should say, more car like than SUV like (not a 911). Very, very impressive for a small/mid SUV.

All that being said, for a weekend car and AX/track, definitely get the 911; but if never tracking/autocross, you may be happier with the Macan.

I have a 2012 997.2 Cab pdk and I would not consider trading it for a Macan for any amount of money well you know what I mean. One is a Sports Car the other a great Sporty Crossover( we used to call them station wagons).
But I do have a Cayenne on order to replace my 2010 4Runner for our Minnesota winters.
