I think he meant factory paint. I wish I had a close up of the side blades painted.

On a side note I'm really thankful for the Porsche community to be able to parse the build details. I'm pretty sure my wife would think I need therapy if I needed to share with her the build nuance.

The only think I asked my wife was the color , all she cares about anyway.

that must be the turbo carbon....

My Macan S has the smooth plastic.
Factory paint option should mask it just enough to be presentable.

I can't find the option for paint to sample/colour on the Canadian or US site. Am I missing something? I have White with two tone Red/black interior and want to have the blades painted red (on Turbo).

There is no PTS available on the Macan, not sure if there ever will be. Only factory option is to have them painted body color.

Red blades would be really extreme. You would need the wheels to have some red too. (the 21" spyder wheels with red accents instead of the black accents would work)

Be really nice parked next your 991

You could have the blades wrapped in red....

Default If there were an option,

I would delete the side blade. Porsche is maybe planning to use them for logo in the future, maybe for special models like a Turbo S.

A most important feature of the side blades is the ability to un-mount them. Merely cruise up to your destination, pop off the blades, and you have:

1) a pair of umbrellas
2) skis
3) lunch trays
4) fly swatters
5) boomerangs
6) cricket bats
7) spare blades for your ceiling fan
8) brat spankers
9) nice signs for panhandling
10) etc.

What a brilliant innovation, Porsche!

It would not surprise me if the side blades where there for either aerodynamic purposes or for some manufacturing efficiency (ie: the robots can attach doors with a big cutout in them better than otherwise , etc.. etc..). And in typical porsche fashion, they figured out a way to charge extra... paint, carbon fiber. I do not buy the visual profile lowering babble coming out of their marketing department.

If the Macan is offered by default without side blades, then there is no door manufacturing feature hidden by the side blades.

As for aerodynamics, the side blades are in the boundary layer and ill-shaped for any flow management. There is close to a 0% chance that aerodynamics are improved in any way with side blades.

The real reason Porsche offers side blades is to sell another option for the growing population of people who have many cents but no sense.

the side blades are a design feature borrowed from the 918. It supposedly breaks up the massive area of body to give a more stream lined effect.
