I recently purchased a Porsche Macan S with 96k miles. Has a solid service history and has always been maintained at the local Porsche Dealership, last service shown on Carfax was at the dealership at 89k miles: 2015 Macan S - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums
Of course, now I am having some issues/questions. As shown in the pictures, the car is giving me the following messages:
1.) Fault 4-wheel drive:
Is this the dreaded Transfer Case issue? How many dollars? Does the transfer case need to be replaced? Can it be a smaller issue as stated here online:
"A Porsche Macan 4WD fault often points to common issues like worn wheel speed sensors, transfer case problems (especially in older models), or electrical glitches from a weak battery or water intrusion, triggering PSM (Porsche Stability Management) warnings and reduced drive. Diagnosis with a Porsche-specific scanner is key, but checking sensors, battery, and for water in the footwell (due to blocked sunroof drains) can reveal simple fixes like cleaning or battery replacement."
2.) Start/Stop Operation deactivated
I read that this is the auto start/stop where the engine turns off/back on while at a light or stopped for a long time. I hate this feature anyhow and do not need it, so if the message can disappear without addressing the issue, it would be great.
3.) Sport Mode not available
Here I read this could be if the car was not equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, but why would the switch be there if it wasn’t?
Any help, thoughts, insight regarding these issues is very much appreciated. THANK YOU in advance.
Happy Holidays everyone.
Get all 4 speed sensors changed.
I had similar ‘warnings’ - and more - though my Macan is 2016 and on 55k.
This happened a few times for me, but cleared next day, so I got all 4 changed and no re-occurrence (I had a similar issue with my Cayenne previously at 110k; same fix).
No programming required so got original parts and used my local trusted garage, who are patient and capable should one or more be reluctant to unscrew!
