Default Exhaust Tab Cracked

Rennlisters,

Has anyone successfully solved the broken exhaust tab issue that our Macan's seem to experience. My extended warranty will cover replacing that section of the exhaust, but from what I've read the tab even in the newer version of the exhaust continues to have some issues with cracking again, so wondering what others have experienced and or what solutions the community has found.

My shop tried to weld it, but it broke again, so looking for a better solution.

Has anyone else had similar issues with the exhaust, or would replacing it most likely resolve it with the updated versions?

Thanks,
Skip

If it were me I would simply cut the center of the tab out so there is no chance of a rattle and never think about again.

What he said....just snap it off, did a ton at the dealer for those out-of-warranty people, will not affect anything but your sanity. If I remember correct, that was actually the official "fix" from Porsche, but I'm not 100% sure. Just grab some channel locks and snap it off.

From looking at the entire exhaust system, I’d be concerned of excessive vibration causing exhaust flanges to fail which could become expensive to repair.

No further issues will develop, just cut that bridge off, it's redundant, problem solved.

Question… What caused the bracket to break? For those planning on keeping theirs for a long time I’d be concerned about exhaust leaks at the downpipe flanges or worse.

Those two pipes are telling us they don't want to be bridged together. Listen to what they saying. There will be no knock-on effects.

As for keeping cars for a long time I have taken 5 daily drivers to well over 200,000 miles with this same outlook. Listen to what the car is telling you.

I have and I do. Thanks for your opinion. It's one of many.
