Approximately how much does a Macan S typically depreciate in a year? I can't find any credible information on how much a Macan S typically depreciates year to year and also from MY to MY.
I have the option of ordering a 2024 or 2025 Macan S. For this dealer, it will be the last 2024 build and the first 2025 build. The build dates are only 2 weeks apart. My configuations are exaclty the same and the price difference is about $8000.
If I choose the 2024, it will essentially be a year old the day I take delivery. In three years, when I trade it in, which car will net a better outcome? I know the 2025 will bring more, but will it be worth $8000 more?
Lots of factors to consider in depreciation- miles, options, condition, etc. Not to mention changes in the used Macan market. If your plan is to keep it for only 3 years, then I would go for the 2025. It might turn out to be a wash.
Cargurus listed asking prices below. When cars go beyond the warranty threshold, depreciation steepens. When a new platform is released, there is a marked increase in price for the new vs the old.
The used car market softened noticeably in mid-2022. I bought my CPO Cayenne in late 2022 and prices were dropping in front of my eyes. Things seem to have firmed lately but a used car is still a used car and always depreciates unless it is a "special" model. No Macan fits the "special" criteria.
10%-20% annual depreciation is a rough guideline to think about when shopping.

Wow !
Thanks for the Heads UP !
I am supposed to place my Macan GTS order within a couple of weeks.
I better check with my sales rep that my new car, is indeed a 2025 Order .
If you have a custom order in June, 2024, won;t this automatically be a 2025 ?

I would imagine there's either a cutoff date for ordering a 2024. But the question is, do dealers have to fill all their allocations for a 2024 before being allowed to order a 2025? The GTS could be different. I was told the wait time for a GTS is significantly longer. The 2025 S I'm considering is scheduled to arrive 8/2/24.

I was told that the car would probably arrive in October. Still, I must quiz my dealership to be sure.
Rather than ordering a custom, I would go to Porsche car finder and see if there are any where cars with the options you want are available. Normally if there are cars on the lot, you can negotiate those down about 6-10%, depending on the market. I did last year exactly that. I jumped on an incoming dealer order and negotiated 9% off MSRP. I can't imagine that there area any ground breaking changes which will justify the 2025 model, especially nothing which can justify $8k price increase. If you really need/want to custom order, I would stick with the 24 model. No matter how the depreciation curve looks like, you will have a better value.
I purchased used (CPO) and it saved me a whopping 40% vs the original sticker price. But I also wanted to see what the value would look like in 5 years, which is how long I typically keep cars.
