That's the thing about PSCBs, though... the wheels always look like they were recently washed. Real love-hate relationship with these things. I still dislike the way they feel, but they're no longer that bad, the way they were when the car was new. And they sure are sexy.

It didn't last more than a couple of weeks before the old grabby behavior started to return.

I couldn't see how anything could have affected them except for the fact that they had washed the wheels. And in fact, for my car at least, a good wash does restore smooth braking for a while.
Me three! I had them do an inspection of them during my first service and they said they’re perfect and they didn’t do anything, but the grab went away (they didn’t do a wash). They said a lot of people find humidity causes it, and admittedly mine were at their worst when I spent time in Florida this past winter. Mine also squeal at times and they told me I need to be harder on them.

It’s so odd how they switch between too grabby and then too mushy, but I do love the lack of brake dust, and holy hell do they stop the heavy pig during spirited driving. It’s definitely a love/hate volatile relationship! Haha

Mine squeal sometimes too. Tends to be when the family is in the car and I'm trying to drive more gently

It was very humid yesterday (and hot) when I picked up the car. Today it's cooler and drier. I'm going to send my wife out later to see if she notices the difference. We both complained about the unpredictability prior to this phantom service.

I was sure they lubed the caliper hydrolics or something but my service advisor swears they didn't.

I have a 22 GTS with about 3K mi on it. My PSCB brakes do not grab, squeel, or feel mushy. Even though I don't have a lot of mi on the car, I frequently take the car on spirited rides where I bake hard from high velocities. Maybe the surfaces just get contaminated with road crud and this needs to be scrubbed off periodically. I very infrequently wash the car so I don't think that has much to do with it (besides, how do you wash the BACKSIDE of the rotors?). And perhaps these dealers are taking customer cars on test drives after service and really using the brakes in the process?

Here is something interesting. My 2022 GTS developed a loud rubber squeak in the brake pedal/master cylinder mechanism you could hear inside the car every time you pressed the brakes. The dealership first replaced the entire pedal mechanism but then found the noise was from the master cylinder, so they then replaced the master cylinder (after a 3 month backorder on the part). Since getting the new master, the PSCB brake grab is completely GONE. The brakes feel amazing and as they should have originally. Checking part numbers it looks like there are two superseded part numbers for the master cylinder (but no dates are listed). It seems to me that something was changed with the master cylinder to reduce the grab, but can't confirm. Anyhow the uber-grab is gone and the brakes now feel excellent.

This is really interesting. I do notice that mine are better after I clean the car, including the rotors (as much as I can reach). I'll be curious to see if yours continue to have the improved feel after a week or two. Please report back!

It's actually been a couple months since the work was done. I didn't want to post this right away in case it was just a fluke, but it's no fluke the annoying grab is completely gone and has stayed gone. Brakes dirty or clean, no difference, although as I posted above cleaning my brakes/wheels never seemed to change anything with the grab for me.

That's awesome. You don't know the exact part number that was put in do you?

Nice. Thanks. I'm going to bring this up to my SA and see where it goes. As with most major part replacements, there were likely a handful of other parts that were replaced as well. I'll be curious to learn the full extent of this repair to understand the cost if one were to go out of pocket to do it. The master cylinder itself is not too expensive.

That part appears to be a servo, rather than the master cylinder itself -- https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...vo-95b612107ag

Now I'm really curious what all they replaced. If they told you they replaced the master cylinder and quoted this part, I'm guessing they replaced a bunch of stuff.

Yes there is a long list of parts. Servo would make sense as a squeak source, which was the original problem. The dealer service advisor said master cylinder to me, but perhaps it was actually the booster (servo) as I went through the parts list and don't see a master cylinder part number.
Brake assist would make sense as a source of the grab.

Here is a list of what they replaced from the work order:
95B723141 - Brake Pedal
95B723820 - Bearing Sleeve
N91270001 - Lock washer
95B723311C - Bearing Pin
95B723117D - Bracket for Pedal Cluster
95B612107AG - Brake Servo
PAB612161A - Brake Servo Gasket

So it looks like the master cylinder was not included despite them telling me that. Brake booster would make sense as source of the grab if Porsche superseded it to one that is a bit less aggressive.
Thanks for correcting me.

This site shows a superseded number on the brake servo/booster. No date though. https://www.delawareporscheparts.com...vo-95b612107ag
