Current Macan owners not interested in a Macan EV?
#16
No interest for the reasons mentioned above. I jumped on the ICE Macan since this latest generation was revised again on a 10 years old platform. I figured this is probably is a reliable choice and a great daily.
The thought of buying the first Macan EV with the problem with the Taycan really scares me. If ICE Macan was redesigned, i'm ok since most Porsche is an evolution of the old. However in this ev case, it's almost all brand new and I do not feel like paying to be a test pilot.

Me too. I have 2016 991.1 TTS for fun, and will keep indefinitely. And 2020 Macan GTS which I would keep for another 2-3 years, but will trade in 2025 since I don't want EV. I have a cottage at a remote location (Canada) and the charging infrastructure is not there yet. Also EV is $20K more and slower. Since I only drive 13K km per year I will never recoup the cost.

no thanks. I rented a mustang mach-e in Phoenix a couple weeks ago and it was a complete nightmare to charge. I live in the middle of nowhere, so that was a best-case. everyone says it'll be fine once Tesla opens up its charging network, but I can only imagine lines. thanks but I prefer the 3 minutes it takes to fill a tank, virtually anywhere I need to.

So, it sounds like most aren’t interested in a Macan EV (I understand this is a tiny sample size). If this turns out to be the case, the Macan will no longer be their top selling vehicle. I wonder what their plans are for replacing that volume?

My '18 Turbo will keep me out of a Macan EV for the foreseeable future. I cannot imagine the EV being as satisfying an all around vehical. If there were a hybrid, maybe. .

I have a GT3, a Macan, and Cayenne, and the next car will absolutely be a Taycan or Macan EV! It’s a whole different kind of driving experience. I think most people who express such distaste for Porsche EVs have not driven one, and if they did, many would change their mind.

EV Macan. NO.
1. Range - I get 500 miles in my 19S on the highway, new EV does not
2. Charging Infrastructure - non-existent on the roads I travel
3. Heavier - more road damage and tires replacement
4. Garage/home fire hazard
5. Add electrical line in garage
6. No one at the dealership can tell me in 30 seconds what I have to do to charge at different locations and what plugs/chargers/charging options are. It's like they are clueless
7. Zero Emissions, really? They run off coal and child labor
8. Exhaust sound - non-existent
9. When will local/state/Feds start a per mile tax due to loss of gasoline tax revenue to pay for roads (that will be damaged more due to heavier vehicles)
10. Time is money - If I can't access chargers without going more than 1 mile off the highway and re-charge to full in under five minutes, why?
11. Higher cost
Maybe in 10-15 years, but not now.

Heh. My wife and I took a good look at the X3 before ordering our Macan. While the X3 doesn't have the awful "beaver teeth" grille, neither of us was enamored with the "Tron"-like exterior styling and both of us absolutely hated the "I-Pad stuck in the dash" look of the infotainment screen that seems so popular with nearly every car manufacturer other than Porsche. All subjective, I know. There apparently are a lot of folks that really LIKE the modern BMW look. I'm more of a . . . curves guy . . .

Wife found my 911 a bit rough for road trips, so we got the Macan. Loves it.
EV not ready in my remaining lifetime. Range and charging infrastructure for road trips.

At 75, I’m not looking to downgrade to an EV any time soon. First time behind the wheel was my dad’s 55 Ford Crown Victoria. And yeah. Two tone white and blue. My dad was a car buff in his day. Don’t get me wrong. I love the tweaks to the body. Except for the manta ray cheap flat black plastic grill. I’ll wait for the next generation of batteries. Longer range. Less weight. Fire proof.
