Default Locked, blinking red light on drivers door...

Hey - just an odd question - I have a 2018 Macan GTS and when I lock it, and lock it twice to get the "beep beep", I get the blinking red light but only on the B-pillar side of the drivers door. No passenger light blink.

Do yours blink on the passener side too? Could my passenger red light be burned out?

Thanks for checking,

JP

Oh, the reason only the driver's side blinks when you lock it twice is totally on purpose. Porsche set it up that way, and it doesn't mean there's a problem with the passenger side light or anything.

They actually did it on purpose for that cool asymmetrical vibe. You're not the only one picking up on it—it's a sneaky little design choice they made.

Whoa. That's for this. Form before function? Hmmm...

It's just to let you know that the car is locked. There's no light on the passenger's side. My Volvo also has a similar blinking red light on the top-center of the dashboard.

As I understand it, a 2nd press of the lock button turns off the interior motion sensor and inclination sensor. Not sure about a light on the passenger side though. I know my '23 has one on the driver side.

It blinks to indicate the car is locked and alarms activated if needed. Nothing else, no asymmetric vibe, nothing sinister. Just lets would be thieves know that the car has break in alarms.

2015 S. I lock it by touching the door handle. Chirps twice, +1 sec hold to fold mirrors. Both doors have blinking red light.

My Macan ('22 GTS) doesn't have a red light on the passenger's side door.

Okay, Okay. I'll swap you even. Sound good? I'll even cover transport both ways.

There's no LED light in the passenger side door panel of my 2018 to blink. Take a closer look at it and feel it. It's just a blank block off for RHD cars. Nothing there to burn out or blink.
