Default Brake flush

How often is it really necessary to flush the brake fluid?
Unless you are using your MACAN as a track car, or are extremely hard on the brakes
Years ago I don't think flushing was as common, they got flushed when new pads were installed.

Porsche recommends every two years. My dealer charges $200, so it's easy enough to just follow the recommendations which is what I do. If you want to test it prior to replacing, get one of these and it'll tell you.

Many factors contribute to how frequently you need to flush your brakes, climate and humidity being one of them, mileage, time, etc.

I have plenty of friends that never flush brakes on their daily drivers and they're fine.

It's a German car thing. MB, BMW and Porsche call for brake fluid flush every two years. You would be surprised to see the crud and bubbles you can see emerging during the process.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic. It attracts moisture. Moisture in your brake fluid can and does result in corrosion within the braking system.

Porsche braking system = $$$$$

Changing your brake fluid every two years is a good policy.

It's also a sealed system, so no moisture should be getting in there. Having tested fluid in vehicles after 5+ years with zero or 1% readings at that age, I really think it's a little over aggressive the Porsche schedule...or at very least they should inspect it and only change as necessary.

It's not limited to certain makes of cars. Even my Harley service manual recommends a brake flush every two years. It's good practice for all vehicles.

Testing sounds like a good idea, why be wasteful and discard it if its not contaminated?

Twenty years ago - or probably longer, tbh - you'd've been doing a full fluid change bit by bit over the course of two years as you replaced sticky calipers, split or bulged hoses, or rusty bleed nipples. Cars are built to last longer now and are also built from better materials. You could, hypothetically, go ten years without touching a bleed nipple. Which pretty much guarantees it'll be stuck solid in the caliper. Cracking them every two years and pushing 250mL of brake fluid through is good preventative maintenance.

I was under the impression that the brake system had a vent and thus not fully sealed.

The system is sealed until the moment the reservoir cap is removed.

Actually just had this done yesterday along with the PDK flush, which is recommended every 4 years. Around $800 with local tech. Only 20k miles on my '20 S but now that it's out of warranty don't mind spending the $ on yearly maintenance to avoid any major issues down the road. Plan to keep my Macan for another 4-5 years so.
