Has anyone figured out why Porsche removed the dipstick? 100% of the folks I know just hate it. They could have had both, right?
Just about every manufacturer on the planet has eliminated the dipstick. Not just Porsche. You won't find them on BMW, Mercedes, etc. Motivation? Somebody saved $1 on the cost of a $70K + car.
I hate they removed the dip-stick. Our '17 GTS is always finicky getting the oil level to read. I drive it to get it warm, park it in our garage and wait a couple minutes. Typically, have to try to get a reading 5 or 6 times before it will read. I follow the instruction to the letter...
My 2017 Carrera S was like this also. Had a lot of trouble getting a reading. My 2022 GTS Macan is a lot better. Discovered it will read the oil level while driving which my 2017 911 would never do.

And eliminated a source of evaporative emissions. Note that on engines with a tube but no dipstick (EA839 V6) the tube plug is sealed with an o-ring.
