My screen is going crazy and I want to reboot it. I removed the fuses in the rear E3 and E4 as per another thread. However, now I want to reboot the PCM in this 2018 and the radio in Macon does not have an info button. I’ve tried multiple buttons holding it for 10 seconds. I have no idea how to get it to reboot so I can get into factory settings to reset it.
Does anyone have any idea?
Try pressing with two fingers near the upper-right corner of the screen for 10-20 seconds
2017/2018 Macans need the volume button held in for approximately 10 seconds and then released to reboot the PCM. But if there’s nothing on the screen then either a problem with the PCM or a fuse blew is likely.
Pressing volume has sound comes but can’t turn volume up or down. Screen dead. Sometimes screen is half on but unresponsive. I have replaces fuses E2 and E4. (E3 is a blank space in my year). Some questions. 1: Is a PCM 3.1 or 4.0 and can the SSD drive be swapped led out in either?
2: My 2017 GTS here is outside the PCM recall years but it looks like it’s the same unit. Any way Porsche is going to pay for this obvious issue??
I don’t know if I need just the display unit or the entire unit which seems bigger in photos. Some items have a warranty for 30 days on eBay and I would buy that but it looks like it’s only the screen. Anyone have a link to what this unit actually looks like?
I think if you buy a new PCM it needs coded to your vehicle? You could also look into installing the widescreen 12.3” android head unit some are going with now. Gives the Macan a more updated look: https://www.macanforum.com/threads/w...90283/#replies
Hold the volume **** in for approximately 10-15 seconds and then release. The PCM should then reboot. This is what I do on my 2018 S whenever CarPlay isn’t recognized.
UPDATE: Brought car to dealer. They looked at it and ran diagnostics. They said I needed a NEW unit as it was broken and they would not replace the hard drive. So, I thought I would try first because it’s $200 to try that or $5000 for a PCM. So I ordered $14 handle pulls so I could pull the clips off within the air vents. This allows you to take the dash off to get at the radio. In doing so, (and while being very careful) I pulled, and of curse I missed the clip and almost broke the air vent slats. 5 more try’s I gave up…but I pulled hard and felt it jiggle a bit. I gave up Next time I got in the car, the PCM works, NAV works, radio works, backup cam works.
