Default Sunroof tint

Anyone tint their sunroof (moonroof)?? It's already tinted from the factory but I can't help but think a darker ceramic tint would really help to block out the heat. I've heard all the old wives'tales about breaking glass but I don't believe that is really a thing.

I wouldn't bother personally. Just close the shade and that should be plenty.

I did however tint my windshield with ceramic 70% and I think that makes a big difference

Yes, I had the same thought and tinted the pano roof with 55% VLT ceramic film to reduce UV and heat transmission. I believe factory tints are dyes.

So how does it affect heat transfer into the cabin? Hopefully you had the car a while and can comment on before and after the tint install.

Yes, it does keep the cabin cooler versus just the black fabric liner and I find I can comfortably keep the liner retracted more often.

My southern Florida Macan is always operated w/ the roof open (except in torrential downpours) and always parked w/ the sunshade closed.

There would be zero utility for this operation mode to have the roof glass tinted.

I haven’t done this yet, but can see it making a bigger difference than tinting the other windows.

Pulling the sun shade closed makes a huge difference when old sol is active.
