Do they need to be broken in a bit? The smaller brakes even on my base are fantastic in terms of feel, initial bite and performance.

I've never had an issue with the brakes on my 21 GTS (standard steels)...they are more than enough to reach the limits of tire grip and haul the thing down fast. If yours aren't working that well, take it in to get looked at.

I’ve heard others complain about the brakes. My 2019 stops on a dime. I have the 21” wheels and I don’t know if all the brakes are the same.

What were you driving before your Macan S? Have you come out of a 718 or 911 like myself?

An expereince yesterday supports the viewpoint that the stopping power of my 2018 GTS is not good as my 2021 718 Spyder with PCCBs. I came up fast (yes, I discovered it does have some scoot to it) on a group of cars stopped at a light and I had to really put the brakes on. Of course it DID stop but there was a small WTF moment.

Yes, you're thinking, "you can't compare a Macan to a Spyder with PCCBs" and you are correct. The Spyder weights 3331 lbs, a whopping 1100 lbs less than a Macan GTS at 4000 lbs and the PCCBs are nothing short of AMAZING.

So in truth, I think the big-reds on the Macan are probably fine. I just need to adjust my bandit driving style from that of a small relatively light sports car with an epic braking system to that of a tall, heavier SUV with reasonably good brakes.

MY 2 cents.

P.s. I didn't ask her my my wife but without doubt she would agree.

Yes I am coming from 981 Boxster(s) and bunch of other cars. Never had issues with the brakes but with this one I had already few of the WTF moments you are talking about. Car has just around 120 miles on but I dont think it is a break in issue, I think it is an issue with the brakes which are not sufficient enough for this car. I still love my Macan S and hope to get used to the brakes.

Sounds like a seperate Rennlist thread to start. Or dig out an old one!

My GTS is now, what 5-6 years old and I wonder if the brake fluid has ever been flushed? Does anyone knowif there is a time on the maintenance schedule when this is done?

As a brand new car, your's should be fine.

Flush fluid every 2 years, regardless of mileage.
Yes, physics can't be fooled with 4400 lbs.
I have to mentally absorb this when I go from my 911TT PCCB to the Macan.

Yep. It feels in comparison like a bit of a lumbering beast, but I'm adjiusting!

I'm also driving ours in Sport mode and flapping the paddles. It helps in slowing it down when you drop it down into 2nd gear and hit the brakes. Try that!

Couldn't agree more. Got my '23 Macan S a couple weeks ago, and feel very satisfied with it's performance. Got really lucky and found one with my top 3 option "must haves" (Sport Chrono, Air Suspension, Sport Exhaust... plus some nice to haves like Clear LED Taillights, Surround View, Wireless Charging, Heated Steering Wheel, and Colored Center Caps).

Just got a Macan GTS with the PCCB brakes (the WC coated rotors). Coming from a 991.2 Carrera S (2017). The Macan brakes a nothing short of amazing and performance is incredible for a 4000+ lb vehicle. Both my E39 BMW M5 (also 4000 lbs) and my X3 M40i did not stop nearly as well. On the street the Macan is almost as good as the 911, but on a track with good pavement probably not. Remember some of the impact is also the tires (PS summer for the 911 and PS AS for the Macan).

Only downside I can see with the PCCB brakes is the replacement rotors cost of nearly $8000 !!!! per pair. Hope they last as long or longer than the estimates of 50K mi.

Macan GTS does not come with PCCBs.

PSCB is available. Big difference from PCCBs.

My 2022 GTS came standard with "Porsche Surface Coated Brakes" (PSCB). I believe PCCB (ceramic) brakes may have been an option.
Big benefit of PSCB is lack of brake dust!!

After 120K miles PCCB on my 911TT, Macan sales guy said I could have PCCB, but might delay and don't waste my money. Been happy with PSCB so far.

I meant the Tungsten Carbide coated steel brake rotors, which are the PSCB (not the PCCB). Still expensive to replace at $6500.
