Homelink weak or bad

Homelink key on position & HomeKit
I used to not like when cars had to have key on for homelink to work, but a friend of mine used to park her Mustang outside her garage, and woke one night to find someone opened her car door and used the homelink to open her garage door at night, found them in her garage. (they ran off) I rarely park outside, but wouldn't want anyone to be able to open the garage door if car broken into.
I recently got a new garage door opener from Chamberlain, and the signal reception combined with the weak Macan transmitter is super frustrating. Have to be within 20 feet of the garage door for it to open, and if I back in, no way at all. Tried extending Chamberlain receiver wire, no help.
Finally found a module that lets me add to Apple HomeKit and use CarPlay to open the garage door from up to a 1/4 mile away. Pretty cool, but have to have the split screen on the carplay to see the button.
I have wondered if we could replace the Macan rearview mirror with one of the Gentex mirrors with the homelink built in and just use that. I have one in my pickup and that has a super strong signal.
