Default Entertainment System - Sound going out

I have a 15 S and every once in a while I start the car and there is no sound. The entertainment system lights up and you can press all the buttons and they work, but all the speakers, other than the sub, do not work. If you turn up the volume you can hear the subwoofer but that's it. If you shut the car off, get out, lock and doors, and try again 30 secs later it comes back to life and works. Any ideas what that could be? It has only happened three times but it's getting more frequent...

Thanks

With the car and entertainment system OFF, try unplugging and replugging the large connector on the amplifier, located behind the pull-off black carpeted cover, left side of the cargo compartment.

What you describe is typical of the amp crapping out.

I tried suggestion to remove and re-plug in the Bose amp. Works but we will see if it dies.

I'm hoping that's it...

Good luck - sincerely. But if it continues to power up only occasionally, with muffled sound from the sub, you will need a new amp…as I did

So it went out again this morning... Is the Bose unit defiantly the cause or is there some test I should run. Would not be fun to buy the amp and find out it's something else...

I guess it could be another issue but your description of the problem (working intermittently or muffled sound from the sub only) is typical of a failing amp. I’ve replaced two Bose amps over the years, both exhibited these same symptoms. The net is full of new, used or repair services for the Bose amp on PCM 3.1. Take it out and have it tested
