Pls advise if anyone has had this “ free service”…. I didn’t investigate beforehand and got an email notice back in Dec.
Something w “software”…..
Upon driving home the car had a VERY NOTICEABLE LACK OF POWER, clearly to me below normal!!!
Sport mode helped a little but that too was WELL BELOW what it previously was !!!!
Called service mgr immediately and am awaiting his call/answer!!
Ideas??????

I truly believe it was detrimental….
throttle seems less engaging and needs deeper
“ push”
I don’t think it’s helping anyone except emissions /lawyers!!
I vote DO NOT PERFORM!

Most independent service centers will also automatically perform any manufacturer recalls. They get paid fairly well by the manufacturer to do the work. Got a friend who specialized in servicing Toyotas. When they had the massive recall because the gas pedal was sticking due to it hanging up on the carpet, the fix was to grind off part of the gas pedal to give better clearance. If I remember correctly, Toyota paid for 1 hr of labor to do the fix. He said it was a 10 min job at most and he could do 5-6 per hour and did it to every Toyota that rolled on to the lot. He made a lot of money off that recall! I think you'd have to specifically tell your indie not to do any recalls w/out your say so to avoid having most of them done automatically.

True…. But I voluntarily responded to a Porsche email about the “ recall” and took car in!!
there was no reason otherwise to go to dealer…
I have maintenance work done at an indie who would not know about any open recall.
I’m just saying DONT just bring car to dealer for recall as I did !
if it’s inevitable then so be it…..

I had it done and it seems to be a bit more sluggish off the line. I assumed that the ECU was cleared and I understand that it learns how you drive over time (someone told me that maybe it's bs). I run in Sport mode 90% of the time and have my foot in it. I hope it "learns"...
