Default PDK Faults Macan Turbo 2015

Posting this for a friend who's not a forum guy. He has a 2015 Macan Turbo with 73K miles.

CEL came on while driving for the following fault codes. The vehicle seems to shift and drive fine, no symptoms noticed. Cleared codes, drove 40 miles, did not come back on (yet).

P28500 4th Gear actuator moved out of engagement
P1187F00 Gear actuator position deviation
P0700 Fault in transmission control unit

I told him this sounds like he needs a new PDK box as it sounds like an internal problem?
Anyone have input/past experience with this and can chime in to reinforce?
TIA.

It could just me some ferrous sludge sticking to the 4th-gear shift-fork magnet. The magnet moves past a sensor on the Mechatronic unit, which determines the actual mechanical position of the shift fork.
The shift fork magnets can be accessed for cleaning by dropping out the Mechatronics, after the pan is removed. All this can be done with the trans remaining in the car.
Or it could be a defect in the position sensor itself, which I think is a replaceable sub-assembly of the Mechatronic unit.

Thanks I will pass that along to him.

Did your friend keep up with his Macan's PDK services? The fluid & filter - preferably filters - are supposed to be changed every 40K miles.

He just bought the car used w/o much service history. All signs here point to no on that question LOL.

PDKs can be repaired in some cases. Your friend should take it to a good, independent shop to take a look. From what I've read the dealer will just replace the whole unit once it has problems so it's worth getting out in front of any major issues.

I would bet the previous owner started seeing these PDK errors and traded it in or sold it while they were still intermittent. If it came from a dealer as a used car, he should immediately pursue this through them. If it was bought private party, he should add an aftermarket warranty that he's sure will cover PDK transmission replacement or he should resell it.

Service cannot be missed on these boxes. I'd start there. More info: https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...l#post18537947
