I found a really nice 2023 on the lot but no lane keep which for our driving 99% highway is a shame. I assume this cant be coded in by dealer or third party after pursche?

I have never heard of this being added after the fact. Doesn't mean it's not possible. Dealership service dept would be the ones to ask....not only if they "can" do it but if they are "willing" to do it...my experience is most of them just say no, b/c it could be a PITA.
It's definitely software + a different center console as it has a button. The assumption is the wiring is there in the harness on cars without it, which it may not be.

Useless as **** on a boar. Wanders if the lane line is not painted enough or faded. Took me off the exit from the right lane when the lane was painted fully. Maybe improved by now, but I wouldn't go through effort and money to add it.

I find LKA useful, but not in the way you would expect. I keep it off in the city but on the highway turning it on it drastically reduces the "twitchiness" of the steering and makes the car much nicer to drive at high speeds. Not sure why, really has nothing to do w/ keeping you in your lane, but makes the car massively more comfortable to drive at high speeds on the open interstate. I have tested this many times turning it on/off w/ the cruise set on the open highway. Immediate difference, but an incidental finding as it's not really the purpose of LKA.
I have wondered if maybe this is something that is not experienced with non-LKA cars. Meaning the twitchiness w/ LKA turned off on a car equipped w/ LKA is not something you would see on a non-LKA optioned car. Not sure.

Be the driver of your car rather than a passenger in the driver's seat.

My wife’s 2020 Q3 has LKA and neither she nor I use it very often, so I didn’t order it on my GTS. LKA on the Q3 has a lot of quirks that can be annoying and IMO dangerous at times. That said, on longer trips where you are driving on a highway that has clear lane markings it is arguably an added safety feature that can save you if you start to get spaced out or tired. In those situations, the best thing to do is find a safe place to park the car and take a nap before moving on, but I do turn it on when I am driving on longer stretches of highway. I have not noticed any advantages in terms of the way the car responds to steering inputs though.

My wife’s Ford Escape has it and I love it especially at night. She hates it but I use it all the time. It does surprise me that a $35,000 Ford Escape has more standard safety features than a Macan that costs twice as much.

Very different demographics with very different expectations.
