I liked my loaner more than I thought I would, so I am now toying with the idea of a commuter Macan S.
I would like to hear your opinions on the options. I will likely sell it after four years or so, so higher resale value would be preferable.

If you are worried about resale I would add the Premium Plus Package. It gives you ventilated seats and removes the cloth seat centers and replaces it with leather. I can't imagine many people would be satisfied with cloth seats in a nearly $80K car.

I thought standard seats have alcantara centers. Is that no longer the case?

Agree. Also suggest adding surround view - cant express how how often I rely on this feature.
Let me play devil's advocate here...
You likely won't get full dollars back on your options so get what you will enjoy during your ownership and worry abut resell when you sell it. Think of it this way... you spend an extra $10K for options you really didn't want but hope it makes the car more desirable in 4-5 years. You may get 60 cents on the dollar so it cost you the time value of money for 4-5 years on the $10K plus the depreciation hit. Beside unless you sell via private party, a dealer isn't going to give you nearly the value of the options. They base it off of the model (GTS vs S), color condition, mileage, etc.
How well you take care of the vehicle will drive the resell more than a couple options. You are talking to the exception on this board - we are the car nuts who care and will hold out for what we want - we are the significant minority compared to most car buyers.
Here's my dilemma... I don't want to go full out on the leather option because
1. standard leatherette is stress free for daily; and
2. my valet guys will trash it within a week.
So it seems obvious the black standard interior would be the go-to-option. However, I really like the interior color combo at the moment, and will only change to a $1900 leather package for Bordeaux red.
(either combo works for me, but I prefer Beige) I also noticed the 8-way seats provide a perfect two-tone black/red seats which I like better than the full red seats.
As for resale, I can live with the depreciation as long as I don't have to sell the car for $30K after four years. I do take care of my car, and mileage will be relatively low at 3,000 mls/yr max based on my previous years.

Just my $0.02!
Couldn't agree more. Personally, I would NEVER buy any Porsche w/out full leather, PSE and Sport Suspension (whatever that is, per model). PTV+ on this car seems like massive overkill, particularly as it's a commuter. PSE is an absolute must if you appreciate the engine sound. I keep new cars ~10 years, so don't care about MSPR, per say. Agree also that PP+ is a necessity. Also, those base 20" rims suck, imo, and if you're commuting, wouldn't you want 18-way seats? If you want a cheaper commuter, but an Audi SQ 5

I already have a 19' 2.9 CS, PTT and a fun 951 (more cars than I need admittedly) with all of the nice options you mentioned. I don't like Audis so that's out.
So you would think that a second hand owner would absolutely look for a full leather interior? It is my understanding that 8-way seats provide better cushion due to the lack of electronics.

Yes I love the PSE on my 2.9 Cayenne S. I also liked the base S exhaust, plenty for daily. I think PSE's valve mechanism is what's been causing some rattle on my Cayenne at idle as of late.
I would personally never buy a Porsche w/out full leather. That, SC (on a PDK) and PSE are deal breakers for me, although it's an easy add on a 911, not sure about the Macan. I include 18-ways on my list as I prefer more bolstering and support for long drives. That one feels more like personal preference, however
Does it affect the exhaust/engine sound? I quite like hearing the stock 2.9 V6 engine.
Not driven a Macan with the sound-deadening windows, but had an Accord diesel in the UK as a company car for a few years and it came with this on the front - made a massive difference. And been in a BMW 7-series with them and it was very quiet. But I would argue that the Macan is suspiciously quiet in the first place, and maybe doesnt need to be even quieter? Its hardly the loudest car on the inside.
