I'm trying to decide between a 2015 Macan Turbo with 100K miles, and a 2016 Macan S with 68K miles. The Turbo is definitely faster and has better brakes, and is generally in good shape But the S feels newer, fresher, has smoother gear changes etc. All other things being equal, which one would you go for?

In the months I've been searching, I have found exactly one Turbo for sale in the price range I'm interested in. So it's definitely by far the rarer option.

The Turbo is not more complex. It just has a larger engine, bigger brakes and came with more standard equipment than the S- but the S likely had its own options too, and they should be considered.
I have owned an S (2015) and now a Turbo (2018). The Turbo is more luxurious and quicker when floored for sure, but in a practical sense, both are great drivers, neither is a slouch. Of the two you are considering, both are high mileage cars, so I'd go for the one in better shape with more of the expensive factory recommended services completed.

I'd probably go with the S because of the mileage and it's 1 year newer, but that's not always the better case. Can you tell which one has been better taken care of? Are there service records for either one? Does the S have PASM, leather etc. similar to what the Turbo has?
Some PO's can put hard mileage on a car, and some PO's have a light touch. Could be that the 100k Turbo has been taken better care of and the mileage is mostly highway, and not city or gravel road mileage.
for example, I picked up my 2015 S with 68k, and one of the biggest factors was seeing that the majority of the service had been done at one Porsche dealership for 60k miles by the 1st PO. All I had to do is call up the dealership service dept. and ask for the service records.
