Ordering a GTS - my spec is $100k +/- with Bose - $105k +/- with Burnmester.
Is the Burnmester worth the $4,700 premium?
I had Burnmester in my Panamara Turbo and loved it - but planning to lease and Macan and it has a cap of $100K MSRP what you can run through the Lease - any options in excess of that you pay 100% of cost over the life of Lease as part of payment. Not a make or break decision - but it is $130 + per month over a 36 months lease. Wondering if anyone has Bose, who had Burnmester and if you are happy with the Bose?
Thanks for the input.

I have Bose in Cayenne and it is OK, not great. Was not willing to live with bose in my 992 so chose the Burmester and is certainly a step up but probably not worth the $5500 cost. However, the step up is substantial.
I spec'd the GTS with the Burmester. This will be my DD and felt that it's worth the splurge.

A good sounding system is a must and the BOSE is a definite no-go for me. I’ve had the Burm in a 911GTS and I liked it a lot. I checked that box on my Macan GTS order as well. The BOSE lacks solid bass as it is muffled and without definition. The Burm isn’t worth $5k+ but I’ll gladly take it over the alternative. My days of tinkering with aftermarket audio equipment are over!
The Burm will maintain the quality of the lows, mids, highs, and put out tight bass up to approaching the threshold of hearing loss. The BOSE is adequate if you are not an audiophile. Personally, I haven’t heard a good sounding BOSE system in any car. They make great personal and aviation headphones but it ends there, IMO. Take apart a BOSE speaker from your car and you’ll know why.

I'm not a car stereo nerd, but I think the Bose in our '22 Macan sounds great. It doesn't get super loud, but it will definitely get louder than you should be listening anyways.
I have a hard time imagining Burmeister making a $5,000 improvement.

I am in line with everyone else here - the Bose system is OK. Its not great, but OK. There are a few tuning options to try and suit it to your ears, but its OK at best. What you play through it does make a difference and I would recommend the highest quality media that you can. The Burmester system is better and it is a 'premium' system, so does sound a lot better, though not sure its worth the $5000 extra for me.
One question to everyone though - is it a real Burmester system? I had a C63S that had the Burmester system that wasnt. It was a simple logo rebadge effort and not the real system underneath. The Mercedes system was OK and a step up from the standard system, but it wasnt a real Burmester system - unlike the $5000 system you could get fitted to the S-Class. I am assuming that the Porsche Burmester system is a real one?

Bose sounds absolutely terrible in every Porsche I have heard it in. Even with the settings optimized. I say that in light of the type of audio quality you should expect in a $75-100K+ high end vehicle. If it was a Toyota I might be happy with it, but in a daily driven Porsche SUV, no way.
Get the Burmeister if you can swing the price.

Once you get to a certain point (which is the Bose), every dollar you spend afterwards will have significantly diminishing returns. What kind of music are you listening to and what format do you have it in? I don't think the Burmester is worth it if you are listening to MP3 music via Bluetooth while driving an internal combustion engine. The only time you would really enjoy the benefit of the enhanced sound quality is when you are parked with the engine off.
It's a different story if you are talking about uncompressed FLAC with a wired connection in an electric vehicle. Obviously no one is going to be spinning vinyl in a moving car.

The Bose in the Macan is certainly better than the one in my Silverado but it's just not good enough (for me.) The H/K in the BMW id superior and you can still jump up to B&W of you need more. I've got vinyl but prefer to burn my own CD's

The bigger the cabin space, the better you will find the Burmester. It needs open space...to sound at its best.
OP, you had it in the Panamera, which is somehow similar ( although bigger) to the Macan...so if you are an audiophile and liked it, go for it.
I like to enjoy the sound of the exhaust ...therefore for me, BOSE does a very good job.
I had Cayennes with BOSE / Burmester and yes, you can hear the difference when you listen to CD/XM, MP3 or any HD station. Regular stations...no difference.

I think the Bose is good enough. I prefer the sound of the engine lol. But for music the Bose is great. I don't know why people talk so much **** about it. It really isn't that bad.....This coming from an audiophile.

Back in the day i only listened to good vinyl that was touched by a Van der hul cartridge, that was turned on a Soda Sapphire vacuum turntable, and run through a Audio Research pre amp and Robertson amp and finally came out of Vanderstien 2C speakers before those waves touched my ears. Now with years of racing my ears suck so the Bose sounds nice, I can hear it and I am more intrigued by the exhaust note of my cars and most importantly how they drive and feel. Good vibes through my hands and butt take precedence.
Decent units in Macan GTS (Bose) and PCCM in '93 C2 with Nakamichi (rear) + Quartz (door) speakers are good enough for me.

Being an audiophile doesn't necessarily mean an audio snob.
The basis of recommending the Bose over the Burmester has to do with the marginal utility of the upcharge, which, in a ICE vehicle, might not be worthwhile. If money is no object, then the point is moot. However, if one is on a budget, the close to $5K premium might be better spent somewhere else.
