Default Another Connect Plus ?

So I have a bought a used 2018 Macan GTS sight unseen. Taking delivery in a couple weeks. The Build includes the "Connect Plus" option.
I have research the forum and call my dealer as well. The dealer tells me that in order for me to get it working I have to call Porsche myself and get them to wipe out the prior owners info in their system.
Anyone have experience doing this? I asked the dealer why they couldn't do and was just told "we can't". Also told me it was a pain in the ***. Any advice appreciated.

Candidly not even sure what it does other than provide traffic updates. I have a 17 cayenne turbo s that has a a button on the end of the turn stock that also you to voice command car play when my phone is connected. Is this the same thing?

The dealer can definitely perform a factory reset on the PCM, then help you get setup.

That said, Porsche’s process for this ‘Connect’ stuff (which includes an account you setup with Vodafone, etc) leaves a lot to be desired in terms of simplicity/user friendliness.

If you’re an Apple user and use CarPlay, there’s really no need to even sign up for the Porsche Connect services. I let mine expire.

I was able to change vehicle ownership by uploading vehicle registration and insurance card.

My 2018 GTS came with Porsche Connect Plus (Option Code IV2 listed at $1,720). It required me to set up an account with Vodaphone to get a 90 day free trial. I then had to take my car to a dealer to have them hook up the PIWIS and enable Connect Plus. It essentially gave me an internet hot spot in my car. My phone could connect to the hot spot just like it could connect to any other Wi-Fi hot spot. Yawn... so what? I have unlimited data on my phone so what good is the Connect Plus? I suppose if you had kids in the car with tablets or something that needed Wi-Fi access keep them entertained then it might have some utility. On the other hand, most phone plans offer an additional fee option to turn the phone into a Wi-Fi hot spot which can be used anywhere, not just inside your car. Bottom line, it's a solution looking for a problem...Even if they gave it to me free forever (which they most certainly won't), I can't see where I would ever use it.

Don't bother. Back in 2018, you had to option either Connect or Connect Plus in order to get CarPlay. No activation is needed to use the CarPlay feature.
