Just a few weeks ago on the 992 forum I was super excited to replace my 2018 911 Carrera for my factory order 992 but it's funny how quickly life changes.
Right before the order locked, we closed on a new house and while I could just about afford to do both, it would be a little tight and felt like a silly thing to do. So now trading in the current 911 and taking delivery of a factory order 2021 Night Blue Macan S in April. We are moving to a much more rural part of California and think the Macan will probably fair a lot better with extra ground clearance and a be a more practical daily driver. Our other car is a Range Rover which takes on the more hardcore errands and duties, so really want to make sure the Macan still feels small and sporty on windy roads. Also hoping the final 2022 Macan facelift isn't crazy change that makes a 2021 look old.
Congrats! I moved from SF to a more rural part of CA during the pandemic, the Macan has been amazing. Easily and by far the best SUV I've driven, just from a feel/responsiveness point of view, while still being convenient and practical. Great in snow, as well, if that's part of your consideration.
Also hoping the final 2022 Macan facelift isn't crazy change that makes a 2021 look old.
My guess is Porsche won’t do anything that drastic with changing the looks of any of their vehicles. They seem to take a slight evolutionary change that only Porsche enthusiasts notice.

I was seriously considering another 911, but this '17 Macan S VGM showed up for sale six blocks down the road and today the price dropped by $2,500... parking in my front yard so I can just lean out the door and ogle Day(night) 1

Well, there really isn't one. You have two different vehicles with two different functions, it's not Apples to Apples, its Apples to Potatoes. I have a 2021 Carrera S in the garage and a 2020 Macan S for example. My wife thinks her Macan is a "real" Porsche and I do nothing to dispel her fantasy. She has never driven the 911''s in the house so she probably will never have the reference point. I like driving her Macan - it's a nice machine and very capable, but it's no 911 any more than I'm going to get out of bed one morning and look and talk like George Clooney.
I go from a 911s to a Macan Turbo and back, depending on the weather and purpose, fairly frequently. They are not equivalent, despite having the same advertised horsepower. But, I find that they both have the "Porscheness" to dispel any notion that one is not legit. Both handle stop and go better that they ought to. Both generate the smiles that I've enjoyed across 914, Boxster and several 911s since 1973.

I like the silver trim on the darker colors, nice build! The black/mojave is going to look awesome with the blue. My dealer just got a night blue metallic with agate/pebble and I want to check it out this weekend because I've never seen night blue other than a sample. I think the facelift will be more noticeable on the interior with the switch from actual buttons to touch buttons like on the Cayenne/Panamera. I was showing my wife how those buttons look in case she wanted to wait for a 2022, but neither one of us liked it better. I suppose it looks cleaner, but functionally we like the actual buttons.

And that's what makes for a great variety of colors, options, etc. I was just looking at my VGM with black window trim Monday and thought how much I liked the darkness up top!
That's what I'm hoping. The Range Rover is luxurious but a big fat lumbering thing up our new windy mountain road. The 911 is fun but can't handle the road surfaces so Macan S might be the goldilocks
