That's what I'm hoping. The Range Rover is luxurious but a big fat lumbering thing up our new windy mountain road. The 911 is fun but can't handle the road surfaces so Macan S might be the goldilocks
My experience has been that my Macan S is exactly that - the Goldilocks of vehicles.
It’s unstoppable in the snow and on bad roads, my kids are comfy in the back, I can throw all my tools in the back for work, I think it’s the best looking SUV out there (and much more attractive than most sedans), and it’s faster and sportier than about 98% of the other cars I see driving regularly.
Every time I get out of my Macan I usually have a big smile on my face. I’m constantly impressed by everything about the vehicle - except the bad gas mileage I get because I can’t keep my foot off the gas!
^ This.
On a side note, I had never noticed how many BMW X-3, X-5 there were in my town. They must be selling huge numbers. Also, way, WAY too many Subaru's in this town.
I'll be selling my 911TT in a month or so. Macan Turbo incoming. You can't let any 911 sit undriven.
No more canyon carving road trips with the buds, nor cross country, nor trips to Canada.
F this damn pandemic.
I had a Macan S loaner last year. That thing was FUN!! I took it on some windy roads and had a blast! Not a 911, but fun in its own way. It would be fun on a road trip, cross country any day. Especially the GTS.
they will not give you the same thing as each other. obviously.
but the macan feels like what you would expect from porsche when designing something with the physical limitations the macan has. but god it's an impressive suv.
cayenne sucks. it's definitely third in that size segment.
macan has zero competition in it's segment. if you told me i had to choose one car for the rest of my life to do everything.... macan gts. period. it's the best daily driver ever made in my opinion.

You seem to have a handle on Macan's, if I may ask you... (I will pose this in another thread by itself)...
I am building a Macan GTS now and I can't make up my mind on an Exterior color. I see they all seem to move on the used market. Do you think a PTS GTS (I'm thinking British Racing Green) would depreciate with the same % as a non-PTS, or hold it's value less or more?

Thanks
the macan is a regular depreciating car. i would not spend $12,000 on paint for it. porsche pittsburgh recently had a 2021 BRG Macan GTS. it was epic. but i'd spend that $12K on performance/luxury/tech.
for a regular color, i am personally a big fan of volcano. they also just reintroduced sapphire blue for 2021 on the GTS which i think would look great. carmine is excellent too.
that said, i think most SUV buyers are black/white/silver crowd if you're concerned about resale.
i wouldn't ever PTS a non-GT car if i had a concern for resale value. when PTS was $5,000, sure. now that it's $12,000? nah. hard pass.

it's a $90,650.00 MSRP car. that's 7.7% off MSRP. I'd shoot for 10% at least on a 1 year old car. you can get a new ordered one for 5% off MSRP virtually anywhere. if you have a relationship with a dealer you can get 6-8% off an ordered car.
i have a standard standing deal with my dealer i get 7% off any non-GT car. we don't negotiate. that's my deal. i'm on my 10th car from this dealer.

Just noticed the Exterior color is white and not Carrera White Mettalic. I have never seen a plain white before.

you obviously have not extensively driven a Panamera GTS 😎
So I've had my Macan S just over a week now and wanted to share a few thoughts on the transition from a 911 to a Macan. Interestingly, the one I had on order wasn't going to come until the end of April, and I ended up finding one identical to my spec with some additional options I didn't order (which after negotiating on price, were essentially free). Overall, for a daily driver I'm really happy with the Macan S and I don't feel like I've lost too much of that Porsche minset compared to the 911.
Positives:
Love the size of the Macan - really feels compact and agile, kind of like a big hot hatch.
A lot better insulated than the 991.2 - feels more like a luxury car
Much more comfortable to drive on our rural bumpy roads here in Napa
Feels more expensive inside than I thought it would - the full leather, stitched dash, Mojave seatbelts etc were not options I considered but now love them
The body colored side blades and rear valance definitely make it look high spec
Love the chrome window trim and roof rails with Night Blue
It's $700 a month less!
Negatives:
Not quite as fast as I thought - this was always going to be a given coming out of the 911.
The oversized 911 Turbo rims definitely make for a stiff ride, but it's a German performance SUV and I guess firmness is to be expected.
It's a little jittery at low speeds and feels like a bit of a turbo lag before the engine is warmed up (still so new I guess).
There's quite a bit of an Audi feeling at normal cruising speeds

Thanks for the notes. I had a feeling (no pun intended) that 21's would be just a bit stiff for me. Solidifies my choice of new (summer) 20's for the Macan S.
Congrats on the new Macan and your bravery in transitioning from a 911 to the Macan! I went from a '12 991.1 S to a '15 Macan S and now have a '18 Macan GTS. Different cars for sure (991 to Macan), but had to do it for practical reasons. That said, Macan ticks all the boxes in terms of sportiness and practicality vs limitations of sports car (I tracked the 991 but won't do that with the Macan - though many have). Now if you think your car is not fast enough, add the Pedal Commander mod and a) you'll see a remarkable difference in throttle reaction/speed; and b) you'll thank me. I also have the Cobb tune which you might consider but value-wise the Pedal Commander in everyday driving conditions is unbeatable and a no brainer as a first step. Enjoy in good (post-pandemic) health!
