Watched the video and loved the part where he showed how to open the rear hatch... and the rear window was covered in dirt, a.k.a. the magnetic rear window!!!
Yes, he said he didn't think the air suspension was necessary. I don't know since I haven't driven a 2019+ w/out it. I do think that on the 2017/2018's there is a definite difference (for the better) with AS and since it came standard on my '18 CPO'd GTS, all the better. But, that's just my opinion. One of the great things about these forums is that we get to share our opinions and evaluate whether other peoples opinions are meritorious or not. It's not an argument, it's just a difference of opinion! And to paraphrase what you said, I totally agree, "Nobody wants to call their own baby ugly!"

I've driven these Macan (2018) versions: Base (and recently a 2021 model), S with/without Air Suspension (AS), GTS with AS and trubo with AS.
AS is an essential component when optimizing the utility of a Macan.
Changing ride height from COMFORT to SPORT to OFF ROAD is dramatic and very noticeable when both static and underway.
Being satisfied with standard base or PASM suspension does not make AS superfluous.
And "floaty" is a vague term. My GTS in SPORT ride height and PASM setting is far less "floaty" than a Macan with non-AS and PASM in SPORT mode.
Add in PTV and, indeed, the Macan seems to defy physics when hard cornering (4000+ lbs).
I realize we are splitting hairs here, but optimal handling coupled with optimal ride quality is with the AS system.
AS ride height changes, coupled with selectable/programmed PASM and PDK settings, make the Macan a very special CUV.
Here are the three ride heights possible with AS (compare the roof-line to the hillside horizon):
OFF ROAD:
NORMAL (COMFORT):
SPORT:

update, update on macan.
Thanks for all the respond. as i said i do own a 1995 993 and this macan is for my wife. she never drives over 80km per hour any way.
so was not looking for performance . so i did get her a 2017 base model , has the panoramic roof. 43,000 miles ( 69,000 km)
she is sooooooooo happy. she had no idea. she loves the car. i did drive it, and even with only 2 lt engine it has power. and when you
press the sport mode, makes a difference. also got 3 years warranty on it . buying cars this days , not easy. no test drive , all is online.
also was looking for the best value on her trade in. in the end , she is supper happy, and we all know , happy wife happy life.
thanks and keep safe.

Air suspension versus no air suspension. You'll absolutely notice the difference unless you are the kind of person who always slows down to below the yellow advisory speed signs when taking turns. There's absolutely nothing "floaty" about it. Of course it's not essential. Nothing but brakes, tires, steering wheel, and a seat are essential. But it certainly enhances my driving experience and isn't that the point of buying a Porsche instead of something else? Someone's YouTube review shouldn't hold more water than one's own personal test drive experience. Compare for yourself and decide.

I won't argue anymore, I'm sure folks who elected for the air suspension will say they like it.
Don't take my word for it, take Henry's at about 5:40 when he talks about the suspension:

And no mention of the Air Suspension OFF ROAD mode. It absolutely rocks on gravel, deep snow and just about any unpaved road surface.

I agree that handling is good, but for 52k you can get an SQ5 which will be much more powerful and with proper carplay feature.

So I was in a rush to my appointment and had to make it right on time. I had to push the car to its limits due to being late and I am impressed AF as it's capabilities, especially being a 2.0T SUV. I think it's more fun than Q50/C300/Volvo S60 etc.
Can't wait for my 3.0T to come back from the shop though.
