BUYING, SELLING, AND TRADING ON RENNLIST

Applicable to All of Rennlist as of October, 2020

1. Only Members May Post Ads. Only current, paid Members and Site Sponsors may post Ads (i.e., any post to buy, sell, or trade anything). “Users” are not permitted to post Ads, and are encouraged to join as Members. Unless otherwise stated, these Rules apply to all Users, Members and Site Sponsors.

2. Sponsorship is Required for Commercial Ads. You must be a paid Site Sponsor to post any Ad that is commercial in nature. If a moderator believes your Ads are commercial in nature and that it is necessary for you to obtain a sponsorship in order to continue selling items on Rennlist, you will be notified by PM. If so, existing Ads may be deleted and future Ads prohibited unless/until a sponsorship is obtained. Moderators may consider all facts and circumstances when making that decision, including the number, character, and frequency of your Ads, as well as your contributions elsewhere on Rennlist. Factors likely to cross the line include, but are not limited to: 1) doing very little on Rennlist other than selling things; 2) posting more than 2 Ads a month, particularly on a regular basis; (3) selling an "inventory" of anything to multiple buyers; (4) "flipping" anything; (5) making/manufacturing things to sell primarily for profit; (6) excessive cross-posting of Ads, and (7) selling for/as business. Similarly, you must be a paid Sponsor to include any promotional information about any business in your avatar, profile, signature or other parts of Rennlist (other than references to well-known national brands with which you have no affiliation). “Group Buys” are not permitted by non-Sponsors without approval from a moderator, in advance. Permission will only be given to current paid Members (not Users) and only when the primary objective to is benefit the community and not the Member posting the Group Buy.

3. Ads by Members. To maximize the reach and exposure of an Ad, Members are encouraged (but not required) to post all Ads in the MarketPlace with a link to that Ad in an appropriate Rennlist forum, where applicable. Site Sponsors are subject to their own rules, as outlined below.

4. Ads by Site Sponsors: In order to promote a commercial entity, you must have a contract with Internet Brands. Only site sponsors may promote their commerce on Rennlist. Site Sponsors must honor the rules established by Rennlist covering the type, size and frequency of ads. In general a maximum of 4 threads per month may be posted in the Marketplace. An automatic limiter is in place for the number of each Site Sponsor’s threads per month in the Marketplace section. The Vendor Announcements section also has the same limit in place. Once a sponsor posts over the limit in these sections their oldest thread will be locked/closed by the automatic system. Site Sponsors may not post Ads in the technical/discussion forums. Threads may be created if they are topical and provide value to the Community but do not include sales. Responding to questions by Users and Members of a forum is not considered advertising or selling. Threads offering multiple items may be edited to delete items no longer available. Adding items will be considered a new post and count against the 4 per month limit as will "bumping" a thread, i.e., adding a post to increase the visibility of a thread which has fallen off the screen due to inactivity. Site Sponsors may also have a maximum of two threads in the technical/discussion areas of Rennlist concurrent to their Marketplace listings. Basic/Starter Sponsors are limited to two (2) threads per month in the Marketplace section. Unlike Member Ads, site sponsors are not obliged to post prices in their Ads, although they are encouraged to do so. Site Sponsors are cautioned not to disparage other vendors, or the products/services they may offer.

5. Parting Out Ads. Multiple items may be posted in a single Ad using the Parting Out option if the items are related (e.g., parting out a single car, collections of related things, etc.) The Parting Out option cannot be used to sell unrelated items simply to get around posting limits. Ads deemed inappropriate for Rennlist, or unlawful, are subject to removal.

6. Auctions. Auctions are not permitted on Rennlist. Links to an auction must include a “Buy it Now” price if you are affiliated with the auction. Users may not post links to auctions with which they are affiliated. “Feeler” posts, and similar post indicating a willingness to sell, are considered Ads and subject to these rules (e.g., they must include a price, are considered an Ad, may not be posted by Users, etc.). Bumping an Ad for the purpose of bringing it to the top of a forum (as opposed to answering legitimate questions) is permitted by Members, but not by Site Sponsors and not more than once per calendar week.

7. Dishonest Ads Prohibited. Untrue or misleading statements about an item or service, including misleading omissions, are not permitted. Selling items that infringe on the intellectual property rights of others is not permitted.

8. MarketPlace Ads. With regard to Ads posted in the MarketPlace, comments critical of an item or its price are not permitted, nor are “thread-jacking” and off-topic posts within a thread. If you suspect an Ad contains false or misleading information, or have other concerns, please use the “report” feature (red triangle under avatar) and explain your concern, or PM the seller if appropriate.

9. Terms of Use. All Ads are subject to the Terms of Use applicable to all of Rennlist. Moderators may grant exceptions to these rules upon advance request, and may enforce these rules in any manner deemed necessary, including deleting Ads, and issuing temporary or permanent bans.

10. No Spam! Spam is not permitted and, absent extenuating circumstances, will generally result in an immediate and permanent ban on the posting account.

As an addendum for all Rennlisters: PLEASE choose strong passwords for your Rennlist account! This cannot be overemphasized! The intent of a strong password is to prevent scammers from hacking your account, posing as you in a transaction, then scamming another Rennlister. When that happens, it doesn't reflect well on the person who chose an easy-to-hack password.

I just cleared out all cookies and still get the same error as above. Doesn't matter anymore - I couldn't find my Macan Turbo unicorn through other means and bought an AMG. Thanks though! Deal fell through. Of course, now that I'm a paid member, the link works.

The Marketplace is only available to premium members. You can see what else the program offers by clicking here: https://rennlist.com/forums/payments.php

This is because the for sale areas are for premium members only, i have copied the full text into the OP here to make things more clear for others. Thank you for the note.
