Question about Ross-Tech VAG Com Tool
I've already did a search and it didn't turn up anything, so figured I could try making a post in case someone has prior experience. Does anyone know if you can use a Ross-Tech VAG Com cable to reset the oil light on a 2018 Macan?
I've called Ross-Tech, and they were unsure if it would work, they said sometimes the cables are compatible.
Does anyone else have experience? I have access to this cable and thought I could give it a try. If not, what's the recommended tool to use to reset Oil Service light, Inspection light and assist with changing out the brakes?
TIA!

I've used the VAG-COM for years on my VW's and Audis, and used the generic setting to reset a CEL on my Elise, but haven't tried it on the P cars. I've used the pro version Durametric for the Pcars and recommend that.

From my conversations with Ross-Tech a year or so ago, it's doubtful because as much as both the newest Audi/VDub/Porsche all use the UDS protocol it still requires a .ROD file (the translation file needed for that specific type of control module) and VAG-COM just doesn't have any of the Porsche specific stuff.
As for what's the best tool, that's been covered time and time again. Please use the search function.

I have a VAG-COM cable and it does not work with the Macan. I have a durameteric and that works. But alsohave the iCarsoft hand held POR V2.0 and that works. Amazon has them.

I can second that VAG COM experience which is kind of a bummer since I have the EA888 2.0 engine. Additionally while trying to eval a TPMS issue on the Macan with Durametric I was unable to get any data. I contacted Durametric and was told the product does read the sensors.

The Launch does check the sensors, but it's very slow, time consuming and a PITA to use. You need to interrogate each sensor in a given order as I tried to use that when I switched from winter to summer tires. I never got it to work properly and found that I could just use the summer/winter (or whatever it's called) in the MFD to switch it. So the x431 does and doesn't, but there's been a couple of updates since then and I'll be swapping tires soon so I can report back.
As to the VAG-COM, alas it just won't work. I had hoped that I could use it for generic codes, but with no labels there's no way to do that and Uwe is totally disinterested in doing anything to add Porsche to his suite (much too small a market). Shame
Maybe the moderators could post a sticky mentioning that our dearly beloved VAG-COM alas doesn't work on Porsches.
