Default Porsche servicing from non-Porsche dealership

I have a 2016 Porsche Macan. The Porsche dealership charges a lot of money for servicing. Last time they charged $650 for Oil and filter change and around $800 for spark plug change.. Is it advisable to get the car serviced from non-porsche dealership like Firestone? Will it affect the car's warranty?

It will not affect the manufacturer warranty as long as parts/fluids/etc. meet manufacturer specs.

Just keep in mind however that there are more involved specialized services that non-Porsche dealerships just can’t do...those that require proprietary Porsche service software (PIWIS) and/or tooling.

Not sure I would use a shop like a Firestone, but a good independent that handles Porsche's is good.

I would find a Porsche indy shop and use them, avoid Firestone/jiffy lube, etc. If you are a member of PCA, check your local chapter for some recommendations.

I'll change your oil & filter for $500 - and spark plugs for "only" $600.

65o is a lot for an oil change. My dealer is 550, i go to my indy at 225. Warranty work is always handled by the dealer. The above is correct. Not all indy's have the software to reset some Porsche computer settings. My indy can do oil and PDK flush and fill, and resets. My other favorite indy who did all my 997/944 work does not have enough tech to reset the oil level.

For my BMW X5. I dropped it off at the dealer for and oil change and they also found an oil cooler leak and repaired that as well. I paid the 900 bill and 90 minutes later the truck threw two bearing off the crankshaft. I was accused of being negligent on my servicing. Which was odd, as every service was done at that dealer, on time, by the book, with full documentation. They told me i needed a new engine and it was $26ooo dollars. We eventually came to terms.
So the lesson to myself? I am always wholly responsible for all work, no matter the source.

What is required is in your owners manual. With documented servicing, your warranty should be fine.

I'm assuming your dealership is a franchise? I have chosen my dealership, it is Porsche Canada owned. I don't want to be fighting with a franchise.

My BMW dealership was a franchise. To add insult to injury, the mechanics in the back were unionized. They don't make errors, Just ask the union steward.

Spend your money where you want. Just keep good records.

I choose not to spend 500+ on an oil change. 9 quart of synthetic oil is 90 bucks, 30 dollar filter? and hour of time.
i don't mind them getting a little chubby on my business, I just don't want them getting fat.

x2, which is why once the warranty is over, I want one person to be responsible for all work. And that's me. I charge whatever I want for my time, get the parts from where I want and install them when I want. After over 50 years of monkey wrenching, I kind of know what I'm doing, and invested a ton of cash in tools. Yeah if PSEE isn't available I'll do your oil change for that.

PS $51.48 for two 5 quart Mobil1 0-40w at Walmart, oil filter from Pelican Purflux (part 9A7-198-405-00-M379 with O ring) $14.75 (shipping $9.99). So we still have a margin between that and a dealer charge
